The writing was a bit scattered and frequently made unnecessary references. it felt adrift much of the time.

the story itself was interesting and glad I learned about it but it could have been delivered in a much more engaging way. The book switched from first the third person, maddeningly much of the action was in third and the mundane in first person!

not bad but but great either...

This book follows three is subs during WWII. The writing is relatable yet engaging. You don't need to be a navy expert to understand it or learn from it all while being very entertained by the incredible stories. the voice acting is also great, easy to listen to and understand.

excellent info, well organized and delivered in this audiobook. provides a great overview of the quest for understanding of the Polynesian people's. wish it had a bit more specific history of each island.

The info was well organized as a broad overview then specific topics within that framework.

The narrator however was terrible. Ugh's, Aaaahhh's, and ummm's were so common they became distracting. The speaker also couldn't say just one very, everything was very very this or very very that. To his credit he is a professor and not a voice actor but that doesn't make the verbal ticks any less distracting.

I found the tone and cadence of the reader for this book to be repetitive and lacking in enthusiasm. Or was is the content which was dry and clinical at times.

there were parts I liked but overall it wasn't solidly mediocre.
