I was nervous about purchasing this novel based on all the other reviews I had read, however , I'm very glad I decided to go through with my decision to purchase it . the characters eventually won over my heart and the story unfolded better than I had hoped for. once you get past the 1st couple of chapters everything really just falls into place and it turns into an amazing story

Story
After years of struggle and sacrifice, Falcio val Mond, First Cantor of the Greatcoats, is on the brink of fulfilling his dead king's dream: Aline, the king's daughter, is about to take the throne and restore the rule of law once and for all. But for the Greatcoats, nothing is ever that simple. In the neighboring country of Avares, an enigmatic new warlord is uniting the barbarian armies that have long plagued Tristia's borders - and even worse, he is rumored to have a new ally: Trin, who's twice tried to kill Aline to claim the throne of Tristia for herself.

not only is the story captivating from beginning to end, but the performance of the narrator puts it through the roof.
the whole series is amazeballs, I've listen to it a few times and haven't tired of the daring feats that the greatcoats must overcome yet.
absolutely worth the money here!

Story
The King is dead, the Greatcoats have been disbanded, and Falcio Val Mond and his fellow magistrates Kest and Brasti have been reduced to working as bodyguards for a nobleman who refuses to pay them. Things could be worse, of course. Their employer could be lying dead on the floor while they are forced to watch the killer plant evidence framing them for the murder. Oh wait, that's exactly what's happening. Now a royal conspiracy is about to unfold in the most corrupt city in the world.

Story
When fifteen-year-old Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest, he thinks it is the lucky discovery of a poor farm boy. But when the stone brings a dragon hatchling, Eragon soon realizes he has stumbled upon a legacy nearly as old as the Empire itself. Overnight his simple life is shattered, and, gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

Read it years ago, glad I bought the audio.

Would love to see this world converted into a MUD. When this series originally came out, I bought all 4 books in hardcover and still have them to this day. I haven't read them since, but my wife had recently listened to other stories on here and piqued my interest in the format. I decided to give one of my favorite series a go and I'm not completely disappointed in the first book. My only issue is with the inner voice of the dragon, Saphira, but other than that I loved it. Can't wait to start the next book.
