Story
Early 1900s London: Taken from his homeland, twelve-year-old Celestine spends most of the time locked away in the attic of a large house by the sea. The only time Celestine isn’t bound by confines of the small space is when he is acting as an unpaid servant to English explorer Sir Richard Babbington, As the years pass, he desperately clings on to memories of his family in Africa, even as he struggles to remember his mother’s face, and sometimes his real name . . .

Beautifully Lovely

I appreciate the complexity of this book. The diversity of emotions and actions. The story of so many people of color is overflowing with details, settings, and characters often overlooked in the mainstream world. Even today as we continue to forge through to a better tomorrow there are young men and women who feel the pressure of the past, present, and future and manage to make a complex story beautiful with their own existence. Thank you for such a great wonderful book.

Story
When Alice's mysterious Uncle Geryon sends her to help capture a rogue apprentice - a boy who has the same ability Alice has, to read himself into stories - she knows to expect a wild and unpredictable trip. But even though Alice has visited the magical realms inside libraries before, this adventure is far more dangerous. Because Torment, the magic creature holding this library together, has gone mad.

I think Wexler did a fantastic job of building on the existing characters while introducing fun new ones.

Story
Alice always thought fairy tales had happy endings. That - along with everything else - changed the day she met her first fairy. When Alice's father goes down in a shipwreck, she is sent to live with her uncle Geryon - an uncle she's never heard of and knows nothing about. He lives in an enormous manor with a massive library that is off-limits to Alice. But then she meets a talking cat.
