This author doesn't tell you how to write but guides you through different ways to do it. The book didn't make the writing process feel restrictive, nor one size fits all. Instead, he encouraged me to develop my own method.

I read Dune, Dune: Messiah, and Children of Dune as a teen. Unfortunately, I never got around to completing the Saga. My subscription to Audible has given me the opportunity to return to the glorious Saga, and hopefully, this time finish it.

Considering the size and complexity Frank Herbert's novels, I was reluctant to start this prequel Trilogy on the side but I'm glad I did. House Atreides is a powerful story set in the vivid and intricate world of Dune that captures the essence of the universe while adding new layers that enriches the Dune Saga. I can't tell you how much it means to me (and I'm sure other readers) to see the universe and characters respected by someone with the skill to bring them to life.

This book was easy to pick up but damn hard to put down. I had replay parts of it for the sheer pleasure of it as well as study how the thread interwove into the overall story. I even found myself screaming in frustration when my brother called me during the trial because I couldn't stand stopping there. The bitter sweet ending leaves me yearning for more.

I was hesitant at first but I'm glad I took the plunge. Azagoth has less moving parts than her larger books but I think it's better for it. The story does a great job fleshing out Azagoth's character, bringing Sheoul-gra to life. Liliana starts out mousy and downtrodden but soon finds her strength and the interplay between the fledgling couple is playfully wicked. It's easy to burn through and will make you burn while reading it.
