I appreciate the existence of this audiobook it's hard to find

this was really well done. I loved that the last 20 minutes of the audiobook was the producer talking with the voice actor about the history behind all of this. He was so passionate about repopularizing this author.

This classic tale of a remarkable, unaffected five-year-old orphan will charm you, just as Heidi charms her fierce, hermit grandfather when she comes to live with him in the Swiss Alps.

Story
Ragged Dick is the story of a young bootblack living and working in the streets of a post-Civil War New York City. It follows his rise from a street kid to the respectable middle class. The original publication came to depict a time of post-war struggle through the eyes of its young victims, vagabond children. Originally written as young-adult moral tales using the classic rags-to-riches theme, Ragged Dick is also Algers' timeless snapshot into an all but forgotten period in American history.

This is not a genre I usually read and I was expecting to be bored but this story is so funny and inspiring I want to recommend it to everyone I know. Wonderful narration too!

Story
Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

At the beginning, I wasn’t really feeling the characters. But they became incredibly endearing and I liked it so much I kept putting off listening to the end…it was one of those situations where you feel like they became your friends somehow and you’re sad to see them go. Not every book feels that way. I hope they make a sequel!

Story
Hi! I’m Seth! I was asked to describe my audiobook, Yearbook for websites and shit like that, so...here it goes!!! Yearbook is a collection of true stories that I desperately hope are just funny at worst, and life-changingly amazing at best. (I understand that it’s likely the former, which is a fancy “book” way of saying “the first one.”) I talk about my grandparents, doing stand-up comedy as a teenager, bar mitzvahs, and Jewish summer camp, and tell way more stories about doing drugs than my mother would like.

Not worth listening to after first half
Reviewed: 08-03-22
Oh boy….well, the first half is really fun and funny. Seth has a really wholesome vibe but that took a turn halfway into the book - his 2012 chapter…he switched to being nonstop critical about everyone and giving away what I would consider private info for other celebrities. So much complaining and tearing down others. I don’t mind if someone is about the issues but this feels like projection/punishment toward his audience…yikes. I honestly thought he was a sweetie but this made me lose respect for him. Forced myself to listen to the last couple hours. So painful.

Story
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

It’s fun but there’s a lot of great advice too
Reviewed: 07-22-22
This was a really fun listen as you would expect but he’s also really insightful and makes VERY good choices. I went to art school too and I’m still hung up ten years later on the same problem he blew right through in a manner of days. He’s smart. A good attitude and the right perspective obviously got him far.

Story
It's the perfect idea for a romantic week together: traveling across America by train. But then Hugo's girlfriend dumps him. Her parting gift: the tickets for their long-planned last-hurrah-before-uni trip. Only, it's been booked under her name. Nontransferable, no exceptions. Mae is still reeling from being rejected from USC's film school. When she stumbles across Hugo's ad for a replacement Margaret Campbell (her full name!), she's certain it's exactly the adventure she needs to shake off her disappointment and jump-start her next film.

This book I think appeals more to a younger crowd which I wish I had known beforehand. A lot of times, these types of stories are still really fun and engaging even once you age out of it but this didn’t really do it for me. I can tell if I were a high school or college student though that I would have enjoyed the whole thing which is why I have it a great review. Some things just aren’t made for everyone and that’s okay. If your in that age group, I’d still recommend it though
