Story
After saving the world many times, the Merry Band of Pirates have accepted the inevitable: Earth is doomed. All they can do is try to bring a few thousand people to safety, before vicious aliens arrive to destroy humanity's home world. No. There is one other thing they can do: hit the enemy so hard that the aliens will regret they ever heard of humans.

Great performance but plot holes
Reviewed: 01-11-23
If going through a jump wormhole causes a discontinuity where microwormholes shut down, then how was Skippy planning to stay in contact with the Valkyrie after meeting the Dutchman in the Dragon for the rendezvous?
Why would they break protocol and take Skippy off the ship when he could do literally everything through microwormholes? Like, he can shmaybe jump a ship out of an underground cavern while feeding in remote piloting data through a microwormhole on Maxult world, but now struggles to use microwormholes to control a Krustang security grid.
Also, why not just fly in with the Dutchman and pretend to be the Thoranan there early for the humans and come down in Thoranan dropships for the last op? Bishop even points out they’re expecting a Thoranan ship to come! Also why not just steal a Thoranan ship at this point? I’m a bit lost on why they didn’t take the Maxult ship and use it to steal a bunch of other ships that they could fit onto the Dutchman, and skippy could upgrade on the fly. Or just steal a star carrier.
We’ve got a couple of plot conveniences that are starting to break the book. The sleep function of the Thoranan and microwormholes.
Binged all the books to get here. Not really sure if the author is committed to developing his characters anymore.
