Story
General George C. Marshall, chief of staff of the US Army during World War II, faced the daunting task not only of overseeing two theaters of a global conflict but also of selecting the best generals to carry out American grand strategy. Marshall and His Generals is the first and only book to focus entirely on that selection process and the performances, both stellar and disappointing, that followed from it. Stephen Taaffe explores how and why Marshall selected the Army's commanders.

Story
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Moving and thank you for sharing your story

As a European this book helped me better understand "how the other half" live and what it would (and how much) it would take to bring back the American dream again to these folks. I hope this book will be widely read, reflected and a starting point for new social policies and individual actions.

Story
The meeting of world leaders at Bretton Woods in 1944 was the only time countries from around the world agreed to overhaul the structure of the international monetary system. The system they set up presided over the longest, strongest, and most stable period of growth the world economy has ever seen.

Well researched?

It gives a lot of insight. It is very entertaining while educational.
But stating Beijing as the capital city of China 1944, an obviously stupid mistake, I wonder what is the well researched and documented history, and what is dramatised fantasy of the author.
