Story
Timid, socially awkward, and plagued by self-esteem issues, Fred has never been the adventurous sort. One fateful night - different from the night he died, which was more inconvenient than fateful - Fred reconnects with an old friend at his high school reunion. This rekindled relationship sets off a chain of events thrusting him right into the chaos of the parahuman world.

Absolutely Hilarious!!

Would you listen to The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant again? Why?
Yes! His tales are throughly enjoyable and though he thinks of himself as a mundane character, he quite often finds himself in precarious situations. It's not quite the situations that make the story though, it's his reactions and descriptions of his reactions that makes worth several listens.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant?
I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I'll be vague:The part about his girlfriend in the last tale....I didn't quite see that coming at all. It was quite confounding.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I don't think it's that type of book. There isn't a whole lot of sentimentality because Fred is a very logical being. Most everything is matter-of-fact.

Thought it was an excellent book

If you could sum up The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time in three words, what would they be?
Intriguing & entertaining point-of-view. Though, I am sure Christopher wouldn't have liked that I laughed at some parts.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time?
The way Christopher evades the police on the train by hiding in a luggage rack because it made him feel safe and all of the reactions from people who actually noticed him and interacted with him.
If you could take any character from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time out to dinner, who would it be and why?
None. Christopher doesn't like strangers and neither do I and for roughly the same exact reasons.

Excellent story, atrocious narrator

The story itself is absolutely wonderful and became one of my favorites easily. For some reason though, it is so much easier to get through reading the physical copy, than listening to this monotoned narrator. It's not just the monotone dialog that's unbearable, but the way she puts emphasis on the wrong words, lacks any type of emotion, and mispronounces some of the names. It drove me absolutely crazy.
Who knows, maybe the narration just wasn't for me. I do very much love the story itself though.

Story
Told with sincerity, humor, and wit, Trespassing Across America is both a fascinating account of one man's remarkable journey along the Keystone XL pipeline and a meditation on climate change, the beauty of the natural world, and the extremes to which we can push ourselves - both physically and mentally.

The Narrator is Superb!!

What made the experience of listening to Trespassing Across America the most enjoyable?
The narrator, by far! I don't think any other narrator would have done as brilliant a job as Andrew.
Which scene was your favorite?
Any scene when it's him vs. the cows and his attempting to rationalize his fear of cows.

Story
English magicians were once the wonder of the known world, with fairy servants at their beck and call; they could command winds, mountains, and woods. But by the early 1800s they have long since lost the ability to perform magic. They can only write long, dull papers about it, while fairy servants are nothing but a fading memory.

An Excellent Listen, but Can Be Drab at Times
Reviewed: 07-23-16
What did you love best about Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell?
The random moments of hilarity in seemingly serious situations.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell?
When Jonathan Strange rearranges Spain and forgets to put it back.
Have you listened to any of Simon Prebble’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not, so I don't know. I do, however, think that this was a most wonderful performance. Prebble gives the characters a wide range of accents and pitches and really brings out their personalities.
Any additional comments?
Although it was a fantastic read, it did have some rather drab moments that were a bit tough to get through. So be aware of that. Hence my four star mark for "story."

An exquisite listen!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I already have, when I was about the halfway point of the book. It's a delightful listen and the narrator does such a beautiful job representing each character. The story itself is an adventure one could only dream of.
What was one of the most memorable moments of She: A History of Adventure?
The fight scene between the savages that tried to eat one of their companions via "hotpot" and Holly, Leo, and Job.
What does B.J. Harrison bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brings out each character's personality that I wouldn't have quite given them had I merely read it. He paints life into them.
