Love this so much; I kept replaying chapters night after night so that I wouldn’t come to the end. Sad yet amazing story: confirms things I always felt about Prince and his art.

Should have been edited down to at least one third. Ridiculous. Characters were one dimensional So many cliches and run ons that eventually contradict a statement earlier in ramble.

Great collection of essays. Insight into many unusual areas.

Joan Dision is fascinating—I’m excited to find a writer to add to my favorite column.

And I was caught off guard a few times because what she writes—how she feels about what is going on—I would startle a bit thinking she was describing our contemporary situation.

Jake G reading FSF’s great novel feels like coming hime, but even better. After all these years of reading and study, fascination with the author’s life as well as the times, along with the movies made, listening g to this fine performance makes
it all new and wonderful; yet deep and brooding as Jake’s narration is prefect match for Nick’s incredible first person expositions. I will listen again and again .

Too long, over-describes everything. Lost all the humor and adds violence and more unpleasantness for no reason. Too bad.

Spoilers:

This collection reveals some of the
darker sides of Sedaris’ humor and life. It is interesting though, especially since I have read it at least twice but not recently, to hear about his visit with Tiffany who died in 2013 and about Paul’s marriage and child who appears in a later article, still the apple of her father’s eye.

I have already read this collection three or four times, so listening had a very familiar quality. It’s not his funniest—for me at leSt; I think I will always love Me Talk Pretty One Day the most. But it is a very good listen if you like his humor. My brother and I had bought and gifted most of his books to each other over the years, but all copies disappeared from our parent’s house when he moved out of state. So I only have maybe 3 titles left. But like U said, I’ve teD them multiple times because if you can’t sleep or can’t read other stuff, DS has some stories for you. Also note: this audiobook is not recommended for bedtime help reading. Continued chuckling does not induce sleep!

I loved the first two in the series, but this one is long and redundant. You can see the villain a mile away. By the final quarter, I increased the speed on the narration—I wish I had much earlier. Really hope the next one is better.
