Your Mac Life, 1-Month Subscription Audiobook By Shawn King cover art

My Mac Fix

Overall
5 out of 5 stars

Reviewed: 04-15-05

After listening to Your Mac Life for about 6 months now I felt it was important for me to share with potential new listeners just what "YML" is all about. First off, this show is not for everyone. The hosts, Shawn and Jay, sometimes revel in their un-PC (meaning both anti-political correctness and anti-Mircrosoft) bliss a little too much but, at the very least, you're getting raw, uncensored news, opinions and interviews. Just in case it isn't clear, THIS IS NOT YOUR ORDINARY SHOW!

I've found YML to be both funny and informative, striking a delicate balance between the absurd and the absolute. This in and of itself is a rare thing to hear these days. Go Mac! Go Your Mac Life!

Cobb's Third Side

Overall
5 out of 5 stars

Reviewed: 09-26-04

As a life-long baseball fan I have always been aware of Ty Cobb's various record accomplishments and his notorious cruelty and rascism. However until I heard Cobb I only had fourth or fifth hand anecdotes and tall tales. Well... many of them turned out to be true and Cobb a much more complex man than I imagined. There is plenty of pure baseball here to keep the hard core fan attentive and also more than enough of Cobb's tragic life story and objective, well-informed opinion by author Al Stump to fill up the 14 hours of the reading. The narraration of this books makes it quite an enjoyable listen and I couldn't wait to hear the each installment.

Fascinating Stuff!

Overall
5 out of 5 stars

Wow. What a book/audiobook. I remember seeing an interview on Charlie Rose with Michael Lewis and being a baseball (Dodgers) fan I was intrigued. Well, time passed and I signed up for audible and snatched it up as fast as I could. I finished it in less that two days and am looking forward to listening to it again. The author reads the book with the warmth and candor of a good friend. One of the best books I heard/read in quite a while. You don't have to be a statistics nut to get into what is being talked about here.
