Story
Unchained from fate, the Norse gods Loki and Hel are ready to unleash Ragnarok, a.k.a. the Apocalypse, upon the earth. They’ve made allies on the darker side of many pantheons, and there’s a globe-spanning battle brewing that ancient Druid Atticus O’Sullivan will be hardpressed to survive, much less win.

When a Druid lives as long as Atticus does, he’s bound to run afoul of a few vampires—make that legions of them. Even his former friend and legal counsel turned out to be a bloodsucking backstabber. Now the toothy troublemakers—led by power-mad pain-in-the-neck Theophilus—are no longer content to live undead and let live. Atticus needs to make a point—and drive it into a vampire’s heart.

Story
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Story
West Hall, Vermont, has always been a town of strange disappearances and old legends. The most mysterious is that of Sara Harrison Shea, who, in 1908, was found dead in the field behind her house just months after the tragic death of her daughter, Gertie. Now, in present day, 19-year-old Ruthie lives in Sara's farmhouse with her mother, Alice, and her younger sister, Fawn. Alice has always insisted that they live off the grid, a decision that suddenly proves perilous when Ruthie wakes up one morning to find that Alice has vanished without a trace. Searching for clues, she is startled to find a copy of Sara Harrison Shea's diary....

Unique and Compelling
Reviewed: 11-19-14
What made the experience of listening to The Winter People the most enjoyable?
'Winter People' was a truly suspenseful listening experience mainly due to the way the characters and sub plots emerged, wrapped around each other and then interconnected to produce ever expanding puzzle pieces.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Winter People?
The most memorable moments were when some of the puzzle pieces fit together forming larger chunks that began to answer some of the gripping questions that emerged from the beginning of the story.
Which scene was your favorite?
I especially enjoyed the reunion in the cave and the revelations that followed.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I found myself shocked, horrified, saddened and relieved at various points throughout the tale and caught myself holding my breath more than a few times.
Any additional comments?
The narration was artfully executed! Excellent narration always lavishes new and shiny facets onto any story; but in this case, it added an additional jewel to the crown of a masterpiece. I would recommend 'Winter People' to any and all (adult) fans of horror and suspense. Not for the squeamish.

Story
What is America becoming? Or, more importantly, what can she be if we reclaim a vision for the things that made her great in the first place? In America the Beautiful, Dr. Ben Carson helps us learn from our past in order to chart a better course for our future. From his personal ascent from inner-city poverty to international medical and humanitarian acclaim, Carson shares experiential insights that help us understand: What is good about America, where we have gone astray, and which fundamental beliefs have guided America from her founding into preeminence among nations.

Every American Should Read This Book!

What made the experience of listening to America the Beautiful the most enjoyable?
Dr. Carson has an amazing penchant for not only clearly stating problems facing the U.S., but also (refreshingly) offers simple and viable solutions to even the most complex.
What was one of the most memorable moments of America the Beautiful?
As an avid student (scholar) of history, Dr. Carson relays events that used to be included in our school books and emulated by those aspiring to greatness. The story of George Washington as relayed by the ancient Indian chief has long been a favorite of mine. It was heartening to 'see' it in a book again.
What does Dion Graham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Dion Graham does a magnificent job! He brings the story alive through the voice of a great orator who is also a 'regular Joe'. It is as if Dr. Carson is speaking directly to the listener.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book made me PROUD once again, to be an American and reminded me that 'we the people' are ONE, and should remember to act accordingly. It puts the party system back into its proper perspective and illuminates key points on how it has become so polarized and what might be considered to help remedy the situation; eloquently done without pointing fingers or assigning blame!
Any additional comments?
I have already recommended this book to people of all political persuasions and social strata, and will continue to do so. It is must read!
