Story
If breaking free of negative thought patterns could be cured through simply thinking positively or doubling down on our self-care, we wouldn't see such epidemic rates of depression and anxiety disorders worldwide. Bonior deciphers the psychological research to help us disempower our self-sabotaging thoughts, and teaches specific and actionable ways to overcome them in a transformational listen.

How to make thoughts less sticky
Reviewed: 04-08-22
The title made me a little worried that I would create a negative association with certain thoughts by labeling them as “toxic”. To my pleasant surprise, Bonior takes a n approach that acknowledges any thoughts and confronts them in a way where you are in control and the thoughts aren’t. Two chapters that really stuck out to me were Approval vs Connection, and the Myth of Arrival. I noticed a typo in the audible chapter title where the chapter says the Myth of A Rival which confused me until I actually listened to the chapter and realized it should have been the Myth of “Arrival”.
Overall, great book. I will have to relisten to a few chapters again. Will recommend this book to others.

Similar to Ready Player One but with higher stakes.

It’s fun to listen to, easy to follow. I liked how the quest, the consequences, and the technology in Ready Player Two are on a whole other level.

Insightful but repetitive
Reviewed: 11-16-17
I listened to the entire book to understand the context of the principles. However that led me to become easily bored by the constant repetition of the words "idea maritocracy" and "radical honesty". I would suggest skipping to the second portion of the book when the author explains the life and work principles.
