Story
For Michael Stirling, London's most infamous rake, after a lifetime of chasing women, of smiling slyly as they chased him, of allowing himself to be caught but never permitting his heart to become engaged, he took one look at Francesca Bridgerton and fell so fast and hard into love it was a wonder he managed to remain standing. Unfortunately for Michael, however, Francesca's surname was to remain Bridgerton for only a mere 36 hours longer.

the only reason I listened through the end was Rosalyn Landor's superb narration. As for the book... what happened to Julia Quinn? was this actually penned by some cheap ghostwriter?

Entertaining plot and characters, but an average mystery. I also enjoyed the setting in Cyprus, it made me consider a vacation there!
Penelope Keith is a great narrator. However, I would like to ask not only her but ALL NARRATORS to keep in mind that many listeners wear earphones, so please, PLEASE, DO NOT YELL or SCREAM when the book says that a character did that!

I listened through the end primarily because of Ms. Landor's flawless narration. The story was extremely disappointing. hardly any plot! chapters after chapter of repetitive dialog. I used to enjoy Mary balogh's books, but lately it seems that she just fills up pages with fluffy dialogs. This is my last book from this author.

Disappointing... There isn't really a plot.
Reviewed: 06-13-21
Other Julia Quinn books have been entertaining, but this one seems to have been delegated to the cheapest writer-for-hire. I would start this next sentence with a "spoiler alert" warning, but there is no plot to spoil. 90% of the book consists of the two main characters dialogues, which in turn consist only of one throwing barbs against the other. As in all romances, they end up marrying each other. Nothing else really happens, and what could have been a clever espionage plot is never developed. The only reason I listened through the end was Rosalyn Landor's perfect narration. She somehow turned Quinn's endless and repetitive dialogues into entertainment. If had been reading this book, I would have shelved it unfinished as soon as it became clear that there was no actual plot.

I am a Philippa Gregory fan and always enjoy her books, even though sometimes the characters act or think in ways that seem somewhat unrealistic for someone of that particular century. Adjoa Andoh is an extremely talented narrator. I hope she gets to narrate lots of books! Absolutely perfect.
