The story was pretty good and kept me interested. The narrators did a great job. The sound effects and music ruined what could have been a 4 star book.

Story
Jody Jaffe, author of the Nattie Gold horse-show mystery series featured in People Magazine, is back with another funny and biting commentary about the rarified world of show horses. While "Commander Speaks" celebrates the deep bond between horse and human, it also exposes the sometimes dark underbelly of the Hunter/Jumper world. Commander, a German show jumper recently imported to the U.S. for a successful mystery writer, won’t stop biting his new owner. She hires an animal communicator to talk to Commander to find out why he’s biting. That's an easy fix. Not so easy to fix are the ...

This was such a fun story and way too accurate about the hunter/jumper worlds. I love the other books by this author and this one doesn’t disappoint.
That said- the AI reader was trash and hard to understand (Ms A was often called misisuh and many other words constantly butchered).

There was a lot of fun info but I wish I would have just picked up a paper copy. If the author had read this instead it would easily have been 5* across the board. The narration choice was a huge mistake.

Story
Valentine Weis is a salvager in the future wastelands of Utah. Wrestling with body dysphoria, he dreams of earning enough money to afford citizenship in Salt Lake City—a utopia where the testosterone and surgery he needs to transition are free, the food is plentiful, and folks are much less likely to be shot full of arrows by salt pirates. But earning that kind of money is a pipe dream until he meets the exceptionally handsome Osric.

Well written, great representation, but this is less of an adventure and more of a romance. If romance isn’t your thing (it’s not mine) this will be hard to get through.

It’s the end of the world as you've never known it. Join the Librarian as he does his best to make the post-apocalyptic world a better place by protecting the weak, fighting injustice, squaring off against a group of former renaissance fair workers who have established a kingdom in the Rocky Mountains, and so on. Can one man make a difference in the face of such murderous cannibals and super smart bears? Probably not.

The narration and audio quality was good. The first book was funny and quite original. I laughed and wanted to know more. The second one had new and recycled humor but was still funny. The last one I didn’t bother to finish. Idk if this is a compliment or a complaint but it’s like if Rush Limbaugh had a a major TBI and then tried to write a fan fic of the first 2 books. If that’s your thing- have fun!

This was really hard to read. Great story, great twists, but teenage SA is a heavy theme so take care of yourself.

I binged the first part of the book in 2 days, the last 4 hours took me almost a week. If you know someone who has been through an opiate addiction it really becomes nearly impossible to listen to for more than 30 mins at a time. I wish I wouldn’t have chosen this book but it’s really well done.
