Very, very good book!
Reviewed: 04-16-15
I am a Christian and for me it is difficult to find books that are true to God's Word. This book is one of them. The writer has remembered that God's Word is Holy. The storyline is very good, but it is not all happy-happy because life is not all happy-happy. We all deal with trials and this book reminded me most of all that "His grace is sufficient" for me and I must always seek God's Will. The characters are very well developed and have depth. The story line is not plot driven, but rather character driven and I enjoy that. The narration by Sandra Burr is excellent. I intend on purchasing and reading/listening to this entire series. If you are a Christian, you will love this book. If you are a non-believer, buy this book because it may help you to understand God's Will for your own life. Either way, God Bless and thank you Mrs. Kingsbury for being a good and faithful servant to our Lord.

The killer escapes. Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.

I am a huge Stephen King fan, but ....
Reviewed: 07-04-14
I really didn't like this book. It is not the typical creepy or supernatural book and that is okay, I have liked it when Stephen King has strayed from his "norm". The characters, as always, are very well developed and in depth for the most part. However, I felt like I was reading a movie script versus a novel. The serial killer was strange, but not really believable. The twists of fate and last minute save the day scenarios were predictable. I'm sorry Mr. King, while I would not say it is a bad book, it simply wasn't your best. If you are a Stephen King fan and even if you are not, the book is worth the read, but again, not his best work.

It starts off simply enough. (Doesn't it always?) Jack has been on hiatus since the tragic events in Harbingers. With his beloved Gia's encouragement he dips his toe back into the fix-it pool.Christy Pickering's 18-year-old daughter is dating Jerry Bethlehem, a man twice her age. Christy sensed something shady and sinister about him, so she hired a private investigator to look into his past. But the PI isn't returning her calls. Will Jack find out why?

I love this series! The story is masterfully written as always. But why in the blue blazes would you change narrators in the middle of the series and especially to this narrator? He makes Repairman Jack sound like a cheap New York joke.

Story
Repairman Jack doesn’t believe a house can be haunted. But he’s about to change that tune… In the borough of Queens, just across the river from Manhattan, two clever practitioners of spiritualist hocus-pocus use high-tech tricks to dupe their marks. Perhaps they’re too good: they’ve lured too many clients from other mediums and are now under attack. Unable to go to the police for fear of exposing their own scams, they hire Repairman Jack to fix their problem.

This book should have been titled "Get A Clue - It Will Happen to You". Whether or not you are a prepper, I would recommend reading this book. If you are a prepper it will strengthen and expand your knowledge. If you are not a prepper, the book is entertaining if not a bit technical at times. Well read, well written. Worth the credit.

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

I was hooked from beginning to end. As with all of Mr. King's books, I actually felt I knew the characters because they were so well written. This book was very interesting. I was not only entertained, I leared a few things. In the past, I have not always been happy with the end of Mr. King's novels. However, I was absolutely thrilled with the ending of this novel --- bitter sweet writing at it's best.

In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.

The story is beyond amazing, it is a real eye opener. The emotion the book evokes as you listen runs from laughter to pure anger, tears to fears, desolation to hope ... but above all you will find yourself examining how you preceive and treat fellow humans .... black, white or purple. This is worth beyond a mere credit. Do not miss listening to this book. Your risk missing out on a chance to grow as a compassionate and understanding human. A personal thank you to Miss Kathryn Stockett for writing this book and for the narrators who bring the book alive. Well done!

Nando Parrado was unconscious for three days before he woke to discover that the plane carrying his rugby team to Chile had crashed deep in the Andes, killing many of his teammates, his mother, and his sister. Stranded with the few remaining survivors on a lifeless glacier and thinking constantly of his father’s grief, Parrado resolved that he could not simply wait to die. So Parrado, an ordinary young man with no particular disposition for leadership or heroism, led an expedition up the treacherous slopes of a snowcapped mountain and across forty-five miles of frozen wilderness.

I read the original factual account of the Andes story ("Alive" by Piers Paul Read) when I was a teenager and never forgot the story. As an adult revisiting the amaziing story of the survival of the 16 young men trapped in the Andes mountain was well worth my time. The essence of this book for me is that through time and healing, Nando Parrado has reflected on everything that happened in those mountains and turned his experience into a positive message from which the entire world can benefit.

I would highly recommend this audio novel for the story line itself. The bonus is the narrator! The characters are so well written, that you wish they were you friends. Instead of a fictional novel you are so engrossed in the characters that the story just sort of happens. Well worth the read --- don't miss the great audio book.
