Couldn’t finish
Reviewed: 05-29-24
The prose is fine, the voice acting is great, but the whole book is just lazy repetitive jokes. It lacks direction. The book is like the drunk guy at a party who makes a comment, gets a laugh, and then just keeps making the same comment because it got a reaction the first time. I couldn’t finish.

Story
Ten years ago, Grace saw something that would forever change the course of history. When evil in its purest form is unleashed on the world, she and others from their religious community are already hidden deep in the hills of Tennessee, abiding by every rule that will keep them safe, pure - and alive. As long as they stay there, behind the red perimeter. Her older brother's questions and the arrival of the first outsiders she's seen in a decade set in motion events that will question everything Grace has built her life on.

I have no idea what this is.

This story is a mess and all over the place. I could find a plot. I think the word "fear" was used about 500 times. If this about a cult? it is Cristian propaganda? a horror novel? I have no idea! This has about the same level of quality of Empress Theresa.

Story
For three nerve-wracking years, Naveed Jamali spied on America for the Russians, trading thumb drives of sensitive technical data for envelopes of cash, selling out his own beloved country across noisy restaurant tables and in quiet parking lots. Or so the Russians believed. In fact this young American civilian was a covert double agent working with the FBI. The Cold War wasn't really over. It had just gone high tech.
