This one was hard to get through

I was really interested in the premise of this book when I read the summary. Honestly, the plot doesn’t really begin to unfold until the last 2 hours or so. Most of the book is about a woman’s recovery from a TBI and a memoir of her childhood.

Best novel I’ve come across in years! heartwarming, devastating, and eye opening. The audible version is probably even more engaging than the print version due to the brilliant narration. Don’t miss this one!

Story
In a boarded-up house on a dead-end street at the edge of the wild Washington woods lives a family of three. A teenage girl who isn’t allowed outside, not after last time. A man who drinks alone in front of his TV, trying to ignore the gaps in his memory. And a house cat who loves napping and reading the Bible. An unspeakable secret binds them together, but when a new neighbor moves in next door, what is buried out among the birch trees may come back to haunt them all.

I’m a lover of thrillers. Having listened to and read many, I can say that this is by far the most unpredictable and chilling books I’ve ever come across. Just when you think you have a grasp on the story, the author throws in well orchestrated twists after twists. Highly recommend!
