Great story

I very much enjoyed this book. Reader did excellent job narrating it however I did find her accents for Kaya a little hard to listen to at times. I would recommend this audiobook.

Great analysis of the current shifts in the world economy and geopolitics, drawing upon numerous historical and contemporary examples. However, at times the book felt repetitive, addressing the same silk road themes multiple times but using different examples. This could have been intentional to drive home the messages presented in the text.

A broad overview of sand and civilization

The book is more a compilation of stories and excerpts of the influence of sand, rather than a logical progresstion of the effects of sand on human civilization. However, it serves as a great overview of the utilization of sand in our society and the environmental harm that the many sand based industries inflict.
