Story
Linda Lear offers the astonishing portrait of an extraordinary woman who gave us some of the most beloved children's books of all time. Beatrix Potter found freedom from her conventional Victorian upbringing in the countryside. Nature inspired her imagination as an artist and scientific illustrator, but "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" brought her fame, financial success, and the promise of happiness when she fell in love with her editor, Norman Warne. After his tragic and untimely death, Potter embraced a new life as the owner of Hill Top Farm in the English Lake District.

loved her books as a child
Reviewed: 01-29-24
I read most of Ms Potter's books as a child. The drawings were excellent and creative. The narrator of this book throws off the biography with her stuffy English accent. Makes me think that Ms Potter was quite stuck up and snooty. Which doesn't jive at all with the books she wrote.

You lost me with the illicit sexual relationship between brother and sister. Absolutely disgusting. I wanted a love story, not incest.

I love this woman's art of storey telling combined with Jungian psychology. I have read & listened to many of her books and never grow tired of her mythos, there is always something new to learn.

Creative Fire

I really enjoy the freedom of listening to the book as opposed to reading. This format suits me in that I can work on my digital artwork and listen/explore my inner psyche - which is what art is about. Clarissa Pinkola Estes has been a favorite author of mine since reading "Women Who Run With The Wolves" years ago. That singular book shaped my ideas of my self and women's lives considerably. This book, "The Creative Fire," further serves to inform my deep longing to make friends with my shadow self, with stories and myth. I highly recommend this book to any type of artist who wants to remove creative blocks, and understand how they got there in the first place.

Where does The Beginner's Guide to Dream Interpretation rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is my first audiobook, and I like it very much. I can listen and work on my digital artwork at the same time.
