Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, most of my friends do not like this kind of fiction.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Good ending, a well constructed story with good pacing

What didn’t you like about Vanessa Hart’s performance?

Very unclear diction, many of the phrases ran together and were hard to unravel, many others had inappropriate pauses, often she adds a sound at the start of a phrase that just adds to the confusion. I had to play this with earphones and at high volume just to figure out exactly what the narrator was saying. The performance detracted greatly from my understanding of the story.

Could you see Remnant Population being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Not likely

Any additional comments?

I am going to buy a paper version to do full justice to the story.

Where does A Gift of Time rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the best time travel novel I have ever read and I have read a few good ones and lots of mediocre stories.

What did you like best about this story?

A well structured tale that spans literally millions of years, in, in my case, a single reading session.

Which character – as performed by Christopher Lane – was your favorite?

They were all first class, all outstanding, no deadwood at all.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It left me very pleased to have found it!

Any additional comments?

I started reading in the early evening and sat up most of the night so that I did not miss anything. This is a highly recommended read. There is some violence, but this is totally consistent with the story. Little or no bad language and a few minor adult scenes, but not enough to offend hardly anyone.Buy this book, its great,

The concept was different, but not very well executed either by the author or the reader. It was painfully slow and completely unbelievable. The physics were appalling and some of the premises were absurd. The scale of the target star and the Dyson construction around it was never properly explained and there was a huge discrepancy between what the AI was able to do or not do at different places in the trip. I gave up with total boredom before the end!

A very naive story with some totally unbelievable segments, the meeting with the President for example; the release of the dolphins to search, and, the need to leave the area at such short notice. As another. The story is juvenile and contrived and not in any way credible. The reader is OK, a little too dramatic as usual, but the problem is the story not the reader.
The reviews seemed good, the reality is pretty poor.

What did you love best about Cast Under an Alien Sun?

This seemed very similar in style and content to the Ring of Fire books by Eric Flint, but was different and well worth the read. Looking forward to the subsequent books in the series.

Where does The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Good story, marred by the occasional and completely unnecessary use of profanity. FOrtunately this does not detract from an otherwise well written and read piece of typical Stephenson

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Book is too long to take in a single sitting.

Any additional comments?

Worth the credit

Yes, mostly cause I fell asleep during one passage, but also because the book is so good

Who was your favorite character and why?

None in particular, all were realistic and well defined

What does Roy Mcmillan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Good pace, subtle changes in accent, great pronunciation

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I did

I find the reviews of this book to be totally incomprehensible. There is no story, no character development, no action , no plot - nothing. The reading is poor by a screechy voiced person with no reading talent. I have struggled with this for three hours and now I have given up. Do not waste time or credit on this.

Good in parts but long sections of nonsensical repetition and protracted violence. The good parts are very good but there is too much padding in between the substantive parts.

The story premise is ok, but am not at all sure I can see the logic for the selection of the three central figures.

I am forward skipping just to get to the end, will not buy the follow on. Finally - way to much profanity.

Where does Spook Street rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

In the espionage genre, this rates very highly. The concept is a bit off the wall, but the characters go from strength to strength in each unusual story. I am not happy with some of the obscenity, but it is at least consistent with the characters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Spook Street?

Just about every time Lamb puts in an appearance is a memorable moment.

What does Gerard Doyle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Great pacing of the story and a real understanding of each and every character

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Lots of incidents raise a smile - very clever writing as always in this series

Any additional comments?

Buy it, read it - good book.
