Story
The Nevermore Leaderboards competition has gathered more attention than perhaps in any era prior, with gods getting both directly and indirectly involved to see who will eventually come out on top. Jake, who has so far been performing above all expectations, enters his final Challenge Dungeon before it’s time to meet up with his party once more. Together, they’ll make a final push to try and climb as many floors as possible before time is up and, hopefully, in the end, find their names atop the Nevermore Leaderboards.

Best series that ended at book 12
Reviewed: 06-28-25
About two hours before the book ends, the series ends. There is a point when he walks out of the front door to a shop having accomplished everything he set out to and he is now well on his way to battling Villy like he had wanted to all those years ago. Then it started getting into some weird ass demon stuff where he gets the keys to the fourth hell and some other weird occultly stuff. The series will only go down hill from here. Hence what happened to Mark of the Fool 3.

Story
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

Story
In rust-choked streets and hollowed-out cities, there is only one way out—Terra Mythica, a virtual world so immersive that time warps, hunger vanishes, and even the most broken can live like kings. Jace wasn't supposed to make it in. He cheated death, and now it's catching up to him. As the reluctant protégé of Hades, Jace finds himself thrust into Mount Olympus University, where gods manipulate Travelers, and the line between real and digital blurs with every step.

Dark coffee with a little cream and sugar
Reviewed: 06-28-25
First of all this book was a banger. It's a LitRPG with elements from Ready Player One, Hogwarts, and The Lightning Thief (I believe there is an ode to Rick Riordan in there somewhere). There is a college atmosphere with tropes ranging from the powerful mage dean to the repeat year student. It's also filled with a unique style of creativity that surprised me at each twist of the plot. I couldn't put it down.
It was dark, but not too dark. In the end it all balanced out really well which made the whole experience fun and enjoyable. The author did an excellent job, writing, he really hit the bingo card with his narrator. Todd Haberkorn absolutely nailed it.
TLDR: This book has my full recommendation.

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Romance novel disguised as fantasy

Does anyone remember how popular 50 shades got when it came out? I suspect this book got popular for the same reason. I came for an adventure story, but got wrestling around, pinning the MC with hips firmly mounted to hers while whispering unhelpful instructions in a sultry whispering voice.

It was good. It had me hooked from the first chapter onward. 10/10 would recommend this book to a loved one. It’s a stand alone, so there aren’t follow on books that you’ll have to wait for.

Until this point I have been a big fan of Brandon Sanderson’s novels. This book, however, was written like a novice fan fiction with no plot, not hook, and no fun. I had to force myself to trudge through it. At last I think I am no longer a BS fan.
Also I gave the performance 1 star because somehow this books ratings haven’t dipped in spite of all the poor reviews.

Yeah, it's good. Why are you looking at the review for book 10? If you are unsure whether to start this series because there's a lot of books and you are just seeing if the comments describe a degrading series or not, then look no further.
This is a killer LitRPG series and it gets better with each book.

Usually I prefer waiting for a book to get more reviews before purchasing. However, I wasn't let down. Arche Features OP weapons, a blend of classic and unique skills, and a protagonist who puts things together relatively quickly [without having to ask "What do you mean?" 1000X a chapter]. There are some well-developed relationships that add depth. What else? I don't know. It was good. I'm definitely adding this to my list of series to follow.

Book Changed Genres

The series didn’t start as a Fantasy/Western, but it is now. Folks from New Dallas speak a different language called Texan that is spoken in a southern accent. Words/phrases like “Sheriff,” “Interstate,” and “Coffin deep” are all over. It breaks the fourth wall in a distracting way.
Had the series started out this way, as a satirical fantasy like disc world, then I would be all about it, but it didn’t, and I’m disappointed in the careless turn of events.
