Hmmm, I can honestly say there is nothing I liked about these stories. I am very glad I only used a credit on them. Not entertaining at all. I read them assuming they would not be as good as Larry Correia’s stories but I had not anticipated them to be so abysmal.

Wow. This was really a struggle to get through. I was very surprised at how I had to slog through this book because I have loved all of the other book Mercedes has written. I definitely will not continue with this series. It was so painful to have to listen to the internal dialogues. Just not well written. The narrator did a decent job.

I reealy tried to like this story. But between the poorly done narrating and the jerkily built characters it was a struggle just to listen to the entire set.

My life was going just fine by most standards. I ran a successful business in a tight-knit magical community, and lived just blocks from a beautiful lake and series of hiking trails. Then Selene showed up. According to some magical code I inherit my aunt's ancient familiar; a grumpy 10-pound cat with a broken filter.

Story
The only magic Emma Hart believes in is caffeine and the power of the dryer to lose one sock per load. A chance encounter lands her in Spellbound, a town where supernaturals have been cursed to remain for centuries - probably not the best time for Emma to discover that she's actually a witch. Between the recent murder of the town's public defender, a goblin accused of theft, remedial witch classes, and the attention of one smoking hot vampire, Emma struggles to navigate this unfamiliar terrain without losing her mind...or her life.

I thought this was a cozy. It read like a book of innuendos and unrequited lust. Good grief. I kept hoping it narrative would improve but it did not. Definitely would not classify as a cozy. Glad this was part of my subscription and I did not purchase it.

Thanks to a series of unfortunate events - and one backstabbing frenemy - home is exactly where I'm headed. Back to Winterspell Lake, where magic runs rampant and humans are outlawed. Faster than you can say hocus pocus I'm unpacking my bags and settling into the guest room of my parents' house, trying to ignore the creeping sensation that I'll never break free again. The one thing Winterspell has going for it is the sweets shop in the center of town, a bakery filled with magical creations designed to enchant the taste buds and charm even the pickiest of connoisseurs.

Story
Carrie Singleton is just off a hot string of murder cases centered around the spooky local library in Clover Ridge, Connecticut. She could really use a break—but no such luck, as she; Smoky Joe, the resident cat; and Evelyn, the library’s ghost, are drawn into another tantalizing whodunit. First, a dead body is found in the basement of the building attached to the library, and it turns out to be Carrie’s fiancé’s Uncle Alec, who Dylan hasn’t seen in years. But Alec has no intention of truly checking out.
