Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Pretty good but...
Reviewed: 03-24-10
At first this book was really good then the last 3/4 of the book was nothing but sex. If she took out all the awkard sex scenes the book would be half as long and twice as good. I won't be listening to the sequal.

Story
Former bounty hunter Rachel Morgan has it pretty good. She has left the corrupt Inderland Runner Service and started her own independent service. She's survived werewolves, shape-changing demons, bad-hair days, and sharing a church with her vampire roommate, Ivy. She even has a cute (if human) boyfriend - what more could a witch want? But living with a reformed vampire isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Great series
Reviewed: 08-01-09
At first I thought this was going to be too silly and I actually turned it off after just a few minutes and listened to something else. Then I didn't have anything else to listen to so I turned it back on. I am on book 4 now and can't wait to listen to the whole series. It is a classic detective story that happens to have supernatual charecters.

where's the plot?
Reviewed: 07-20-09
This book had a good premise but I had two problems with it. First, it did not have a plot. I listened to 8 hours and the guy was still just roaming around having random adventures with no overarching plot. Second, every charecter had either a redneck white trash southern accent or a 1800's western accent, even if they lived in 2065 Wisconsin. I could only listen to so many people say "howdy stranger" and "ain't that a fat chicken ya'll". My husband and I listened to this book on a long trip and I was never so glad to get home, we never did finish it.

Although I have enjoyed Cornelia Funke's other books this one was way to young for me to listen to as an adult.

This book was really good. It brought to life charecters from the Bible that you would have never given a second glance and gave them motivations you might never have considered. This was one I could not out down.
