This was a surprisingly captivating story. When I read another reviewer indicating this story was similar to Lord of the Rings I couldn’t help but snicker to myself. Yet, as I began listening to this story I began to become invested. Invested in the characters, some I loved, some I hated, and some I can’t wait to know what happens with. It does take some time to become accustomed to who is who, where everyone is, and following the stories of where each character is and their agenda. It truly is like Lord of the Rings in how; the characters diverge and they take independent adventures, but it’s a truly intriguing story. This is the first 3 books and my understanding is that one remains. But a stellar deal for over 30 hours of exceptional story telling. The narrators are good. I preferred the male narrator, though both were decent. I did see that there were complaints about the male narrator with a somewhat wet, breathy/mouthy type of narration but the whole point is the character he was narrator was inhabiting a decomposing body and is describe in writing exactly how the narrator depicts. I found the narrators didn’t hinder the story at all and complimented it in most circumstances.

This was incredibly good. The storyline was unique and has several elements of a story that I don’t typically care for (I don’t want to ruin anything by sharing - just personal preferences). However, the way these elements were weaved into this story was masterfully done. The narrator did a fantastic job at both male and female voices, was charismatic, and truly brought the story to life. This author has become one I will now hunt for.

I wasn’t sure what to think of this book at first. I usually stray away from anything YA that I can but even though the characters in this book are 16, their maturity is well beyond this. There are some moments that are frustrating but how else do you provide room for growth in your characters. There are mysteries wrapped up on this book, and others introduced. This was a brand new author AND narrator to me and I can’t wait for more. A truly, beautifully done book.

This was honestly one of the best written conclusions to a trilogy I’ve experienced. This was what everything was leading up to. It was intense, emotional, annoying (I just wanted to shake Ness a few times), but oh so perfect. There were some surprised throughout I wasn’t expecting and some things I hoped for work out. This is definitely worth the credit. Fantastic trilogy!

This was an exceptional introduction to a new series. The dual narration was a nice touch as we follow two different MCs. This was such a good build into wondering what the heck is going to happen in the next book. I have my fingers crossed on what I want to happen, but with all the twists and turns I don’t want to get my hopes up. This was really well done!

As a bright eyed and bushy tailed 29 year old, I often get funny looks when I say I am listening to a “midlife” paranormal women book. However, as a mature woman, i cannot express how much this series has resided with me. It is hilarity captured in the seams of a truly fantastic book filled with action, intrigue, emotions, and reality - all with the ever apparent magic and mystical creatures of world, in the mind of K.F. Breene. Give this series a listen, NOW!

This was a wonderful conclusion for this series. I adored Onyx and how much she grew to be herself. Throughout this series she had hiccups and I wanted to slap her, but then she had these truly beautiful moments that make her so relatable. Definitely worth the listen!

This book was better than the first. It flowed well, there was character growth and also still some very real moments that make you want to slap some of our characters. Some jaw dropping moments and I’m interested to see what comes of the next book!

This book was a good introduction to a new series. There are definitely some cringe moments, and this book isn’t for the faint of heart. I am hoping to see even more development in our trio of main female characters and also find out some more details about our leading man. Looking forward to book two!
