Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Story
In the autumn of 1938, Germany's reichsführer, Heinrich Himmler, is growing frustrated at the British using their regional power in India to block the passage of an SS expedition to Tibet. Determined to spite them, he plots to steal something the British hold dear and have failed for the seventh time that spring to achieve: a first summit of Mount Everest. Seventy years later, seasoned mountain guide Neil Quinn's ninth visit to the top of the world's highest mountain, this time in charge of the 16-year-old son of a Long Island billionaire, begins to unravel.

Amazing!
Reviewed: 08-20-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Summit to be better than the print version?
Love the audio edition because it separates the characters by accents and it brings the story more to life. Narration was phenomenal.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Becker....he has a very high moral code and will do anything to save the people he loves and even strangers.
What does Harry Farthing bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
As I said, to hear the various accents of the characters is far better than just reading the words.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, too long. but the story was easily stopped and restarted because the chapters would change from the early years to the present day.
Any additional comments?
The parallels between Becker and Quinn were well done. Also the descriptions of the altitude problems were very detailed and it was easy to imagine what the characters were feeling.

Story
1944. Physics professor Alfred Mendel and his family were trying to flee Paris when they were caught and forced onto a train, along with thousands of other Jewish families. At the other end of the long, torturous train ride, Alfred is separated from his family and sent to the men’s camp, where all of his belongings are tossed on a roaring fire. His books, his papers, his life’s work. The Nazis have no idea what they have just destroyed. And without that physical record, Alfred is one of only two people in the world with his particular knowledge. Knowledge that could start a war, or end it.

Suspense filled and memorable
Reviewed: 12-26-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes as long as they were interested in history, esp. WWII and the holocaust.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Bloom- he continued on his path to complete the mission despite all roadblocks. Yet he kept his sensitive nature and love for family.
What does Edoardo Ballerini bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Extremely capable narrator and voices were spot on as were the various accents. A good narrator makes the listener forget about the narrator and allows the listener to concentrate on the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No because at times it was so intense and suspenseful that I actually had to take a break.
Any additional comments?
I will remember this book for a long time. Characters were varied and likable and atmosphere of the camps unfortunately seemed absolutely believable. Amazing storyline!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I would want my friends to have the opportunity to enjoy it. It is a wonderful book filled with amazing characters.
What did you like best about this story?
The characters were developed so well that I felt like I knew them. The bad guy was my enemy and the good guys were applaudable. unlikely friends in the book were funny and their relationships were unique.
What about Will Patton’s performance did you like?
I always like Will Patton...he is one of the best! I forget that there is a narrator and feel the characters as individuals.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
What a story!
Any additional comments?
If someone had told me that two of my favorite books would be authored by Stephen King I would not have believed it! I never read his books as they were too "out there" for me. After reading 11-22-63 and Mr. Mercedes I am a huge fan. These books will stay with me for a long time.
