Story
Four lives are drawn together in a sweeping, panoramic new novel from Richard Powers, showcasing the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Overstory at the height of his skills. Twelve-year-old Evie Beaulieu sinks to the bottom of a swimming pool in Montreal strapped to one of the world’s first aqualungs. Ina Aroita grows up in naval bases across the Pacific with art as her only home. Two polar opposites at an elite Chicago high school bond over a three-thousand-year-old board game; Rafi Young will get lost in literature, while Todd Keane’s work will lead to a startling AI breakthrough.

Appalling fake accents

Great novel but the reader is reading the Polynesian characters like “native” caricatures. Completely at odds with the book’s content. The French-Canadian characters' dialogue is unintelligible. This book tries to be radio-theater rather than a literary book read aloud. I will return it,

Story
In a silent valley in southern France stands an isolated stone farmhouse, the Mas Lunel. Aramon, the owner, is so haunted by his violent past that he's become incapable of all meaningful action, letting his hunting dogs starve and his land go to ruin. Meanwhile, his sister Audrun, alone in her modern bungalow within sight of the Mas Lunel, dreams of exacting retribution for the unspoken betrayals that have blighted her life. Into this closed world comes Anthony Verey....

Book: predictable , melodramatic, over-written. Really Rose Tremain, you've done much better.
Juliet Stevenson. Overly dramatic with the faux-French male voices just to through it.
