Story
America is a barren landscape of smoldering ashes, devoid of life except for those people still struggling to scratch out some type of existence. Amidst this destruction, a father and his young son walk, always toward the coast, but with no real understanding that circumstances will improve once they arrive. Still, they persevere, and their relationship comes to represent goodness in a world of utter devastation.

Beautifully sad

This book had me on the edge of my seat in nearly every scene. It seems to me that this book is not for the faint of heart. It paints a realistic picture of the nature of man in many lights, from determination to desperation. Good luck.

Story
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

it was a fun read

it was a great change of pace for books. I had just finished Dune and The Intelligent Investor. It was refreshing to switch to a lighter audio book with lots of humor and a slightly lighter tone.
