Story
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

This is a beautiful story! There are many life lessons tucked into Marcellus’s hide away in his tank home. The characters and events are unique, original and definitely human including Marcellus.

Story
Retired publisher Susan Ryeland is living the good life. She is running a small hotel on a Greek island with her long-term boyfriend Andreas. It should be everything she's always wanted. But is it? She's exhausted with the responsibilities of making everything work on an island where nothing ever does, and truth be told, she's beginning to miss London. And then the Trehearnes come to stay. The strange story they tell about an unfortunate murder that took place on the same day and in the same hotel in which their daughter was married fascinates Susan and piques her editor's instincts.

Then, on the biggest morning of his life, James—an ambitious lawyer at a high-powered firm—wakes up pregnant. He realizes with dread that he is part of a recent epidemic of men suddenly and inexplicably becoming pregnant. This is a very important book. It is so relevant helping everyday people like me have a far better understanding of how dirty money has been lawfully laundered!! Because of the current situation with Russia and Ukraine,we hear the word oligarchy and how oligarchs and their money has become part of the focus on sanctions. A clear and concise reporting of the subject.

Story
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

The narration was terrible. Trying to assume different characters voices did not work at all!! Sometimes the voice was so low I couldn’t hear it sounding muffled other times like a whisper I couldn’t decipher either. Good story, a bit dark and rough, but good plot. The poor quality of the narration almost spoiled it. This is the first audiobook I haven’t enjoyed listening to because of that.

Story
This novel by Carl Hiaasen, author of Tourist Season and Native Tongue, begins as most thrillers do, with a killing. But this is no everyday, hum-drum, garden variety killing. Our hero, Nick Stranahan, a 42-year-old private investigator who has killed five men and been married five times, skewers his attacker's aorta with the razor-sharp bill of a stuffed marlin.

I love Hiaasen's books both adult and young adult. They are fun, outrageous and very, very clever. His characters are one of a kind - just enough reality about them that they could be real.....well, maybe not Chemo.
