Story
What do you do when you discover information that is before its time? What do you do when your curiosity takes you on an adventure that is so bizarre that there is nothing normal to relate to? This is what happened to Dolores Cannon in 1968, long before she began her career as a past-life hypnotherapist and regressionist. Travel back with us to that time when the words reincarnation, past-lives, regression, walk-ins, New Age were unknown to the general population.

More Detailed Than Expected
Reviewed: 05-06-24
I’d already read two of Dolores’ other books, and because this was her first, expected it to be more basic. Although it showed how she and her husband discovered both past lives and the process for uncovering them, it was definitely more complex than I’d expected. Some of the “in-between” phases of the hypnosis subject, Anita, were quite fascinating. Would definitely recommend this book.

Story
The Los Angeles Air Raid on February 24/25, 1942 opened an unprecedented chapter in the evolution of the US Navy. In response to this incident, a covert research program to investigate the feasibility of exotic antigravity propulsion technologies was developed. In addition, navy operatives were embedded in Nazi-occupied Europe to learn about the Germans’ advanced flying saucer programs, and they discovered the Nazis were receiving assistance from two extraterrestrial groups with very different agendas.

Really enjoyed this book, though I didn’t care for the narration. Especially liked the connection to Gene Roddenberry and Star Trek. The book has a lot of detail that fits pieces of the larger puzzle together. Definitely recommended!

Wonderful and Enlightening

Some books are read (or listened to) only once, and that is sufficient. Other books have qualities that make a return visit compelling and even inevitable. Consciousness Rising is just such a book for me. Nicky’s relaxed style, coupled with a lot of excellent research, makes for a journey worth the traveling, and I expect to return to this voyage again!
Nicky’s narration is a perfect complement to her excellent writing, but where this book really shined were those places where, going beyond her notes and research, she clearly tapped into truths that God/Source/Consciousness directly revealed to her. I am grateful to her for having shared this with us!

Story
Why we think it’s a great listen: You thought he was a stodgy scientist with funny hair, but Isaacson and Hermann reveal an eloquent, intense, and selfless human being who not only shaped science with his theories, but politics and world events in the 20th century as well. Based on the newly released personal letters of Albert Einstein, Walter Isaacson explores how an imaginative, impertinent patent clerk became the mind reader of the creator of the cosmos.

This was a very enjoyable listen, and clearly reflects a great deal of underlying study and scholarship into Einstein’s life and work. Especially enjoyable we’re the discussions of the science itself, framed in the context of the life experience and individuals that worked to discover these ideas. I highly recommend this book!

Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: A Signature Performance by Elijah Wood

Story
Ernest Hemingway said, “All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called Huckleberry Finn". One hundred years after its author’s death, this classic remains remarkably modern and poignantly relevant. In this new edition, Elijah Wood reads Huck in a youthful voice that may be the closest interpretation to Twain’s original intent. His performance captures the excitement and confusion of adolescence and adventure.

Masterful Narration

Elijah Wood does an absolutely fantastic job reading one of the greatest classics in American literature. Often times, I would forget that he was narrating (being totally drawn into the characters as he brought them to life). Absolutely first rate! I wholeheartedly recommend this version of Twain's masterpiece!

In this Audible Exclusive production, Academy Award® nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) narrates one of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Sense and Sensibility. In this timeless tale of misguided romance and heartbreak, two teenage heroines must overcome the pitfalls of Georgian England’s high society in order to achieve the love and happiness they seek. Rosamund Pike does a marvelous job in bringing the story and characters to life! I’d seen the movie adaptation by Emma Thomson, and so was interested in one day reading the book. But listening to it has been a real pleasure, arguably much better than merely “reading” it thanks to the wonderful narration. Highly recommended!

Story
In the spring of 1939, a top-secret organization was founded in London: Its purpose was to plot the destruction of Hitler's war machine through spectacular acts of sabotage. The guerrilla campaign that followed was every bit as extraordinary as the six men who directed it. One of them, Cecil Clarke, was a maverick engineer who had spent the 1930s inventing futuristic caravans. Now his talents were put to more devious use: He built the dirty bomb used to assassinate Hitler's favorite, Reinhard Heydrich.

This was a very enjoyable book, especially as it was read by the author! Dick’s humanity, humor, and genuine humility shine from his telling. And though we have never met (in this life, at least), I am hoping for the opportunity to sit down with him in the next, because I feel that we now know each other—always a sign of a good book. Highly recommended!
