Story
Dalinar Kholin's Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost. The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.

Excellent story focused on my least favorite character

I loved every bit of this that wasn’t about Dalanar. He is just less interesting to me than all the other characters.

Story
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city's ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start pulling shots instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

As a diehard fantasy fanatic, "ledgends and lattes" was a wonderful breath of fresh air to the genre. Quite cozy, and inspiring to the dreamer within me.

great story but it shows it's age

the book is wonderful but unfortunately contains sexism and racism from the past. if you can get past that it brings you to a fantastic world where primal awe and child-like wonder can be found. I would recommend that anyone who likes the movies read the book.

And nestled within its swirling chaos is the Ascendancy, home to the enigmatic Chiss and the Nine Ruling Families that lead them. best morally gray character written
Reviewed: 03-07-22
Move aside Ashoka Thrawn is now my new favorite Star wars character.
Thrawn goes from being an imposing enemy of the light side into a deep character, empathetic to those around him always building up his subordinates to be their absolute best. although it's unknown why he strives for the greatness he imposes, he does it and he does it well. Absolute BANGER of a rags to riches story.
