Story
New York Times best-selling author C. J. Box's Below Zero is the 10th novel featuring Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett. The telephone calls from her stepdaughter April send chills down the spine of Joe's daughter Sherry. Wasn't April murdered six years ago in a bloody massacre? Wondering how this youthful caller knows details only April could know, Sherry becomes confused while Joe grows suspicious. Is the caller April - or are Joe and his family victims of a cruel hoax?

Whiney, Bumbling, and Self-Possessed Protaganist

I have listened to eight of the books in the series, this being the 9th. This guy, Joe Pickett, is one complete bumblescrew. SPOILERS - DON'T GO ANY FURTHER AS THIS REVIEW IS GOING TO BE SPECIFIC.
He is supposed to be a GF cop. Every G&F cop I have ever encountered is possessed of a suspicious and skeptical nature. 1) NOBODY carries a S&W revolver with an empty round under the hammer. 2) ONLY on TV do cops chamber a round in their semi-auto EVERY time they go into action. Especially NOT a Glock. 3) The complete inability to reason through obvious to the reader / listener information and reach logical decisions mean he MUST have been a Chicago style political appointment to the position. There is NO way he passed a written test to get the job. 4) This book starts soft and carries through the first 2 hours showing how inept and stupid he is. He is presented with a case that involves a mobster on the run and a 14 year old minor with him. Instead of turning the case over to the FBI, he gets a leave of absence and takes his 17 year old daughter on a seek and destroy mission. This will be the last one I pay for...

Story
"I’m James Taylor and I’m a professional autobiographer", says the celebrated folk singer at the start of this tender audio memoir. Through decades of music by one of the best-selling musicians of all time, who created classics like "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in My Mind", James Taylor has doled out his history in the poetry of his work. Taylor says his early life is, "the source of many of my songs", and Break Shot is a tour of his first 21 years in rich, new detail.
