Story
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Good story, but the guy is mental

It’s a good listen and I enjoyed it overall. What David achieved is no doubt incredible but the world would be a nightmare if everyone was built like Goggins.
I did find it if no surprise that he failed in relationships consistently and his lack of common sense and general preparedness for things was pretty mind boggling at times.
Nevertheless - a truly impressive man in his own right (if running and pull ups are your thing).

Story
It is AD 60. The hard-won province of Britannia is a thorn in the side of the Roman Empire, its tribes swift to anger and relentless in their bloody harassment of the Roman military. Far from being a peaceful northern enclave, Britannia is a seething mass of bitter rebels and unlikely alliances against the common enemy. Corruption amongst greedy officials diverts resources from the locals who need them. For the military, it's a never-ending fight to maintain a fragile peace.

Enjoyable, but a little inconsequential

Another well narrated novel by Simon Scarrow. It did feel a bit inconsequential in comparison to some of the others in the series, but I think it’s fair to conclude that it’s largely setting up the next book that will cover the famous victory of the Romans against Boudica. I guess that may be the last in the series!
