A decent start

I enjoyed this book more than not, but did feel there was a bit too much struggle for the main character. After all her hard work, she deserved a pay off, but it never came, which was frustrating, her wins come through luck or 'potential' not her hard work. I hope that gets cleared up in the upcoming volumes and she van succeed for her work, not just plot reasons.

Story
Willa Knight: Dweller? Bad-ass? Notorious pet to five magical beings? In Blesswood, there are rules, and someone is trying to teach her how to follow them. The only problem is Willa. Which shouldn’t be anything new, since she has been a problem since birth — something her pseudo-sister Emmy would agree on. So it definitely shouldn’t be new, but it is. Because things are starting to happen that have never happened before. Things are starting to get chaotic.

Good second novel

I really loved the first novel and thoroughly enjoyed the romp through this second novel. I didn't find it as good as the first one, which had me laughing loudly more than once, but I never got bored. The plot was more scattered, but the new characters made up for it and the ending set up for interesting stories to come. And Vanessa Moyen does a fabulous job all the way. I'll be looking for other books she has narrated after this.
I'll definitely continue with this series with gleeful anticipation.

Story
In Minatsol, being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt. In fact, dirt might actually be more useful than Willa. Her life will be one of servitude to the sols, the magic-blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods. At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won't ever be forced to present herself to them... Until one small mistake changes everything, and Willa is awarded a position to serve at Blesswood, the top sol academy in the world - a position that she definitely did not earn.

Good listen for long manual labor days
Reviewed: 09-19-17
lovely performance for this audio book, it kept me awake and eager during a long few days of tedious manual labor. Story is nothing special, but is light and flows mostly well, other than one odd time skip. I liked the heroine as well, enjoying her coming into her own from a prideful, naive girl to a more thoughtful, loyal adult who learned to embrace her 'royal' and celebrity upbringing to move against those against her.
