A man has taken over terminal four in LAX. He's pulled his gun out and forced everyone to take pictures of him - of what he's wearing. FULL DISCLOSURE: I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review.
I loved it. Great fast paced thriller. Fantastic use of real world tech and future tech that isn't that far off from being real. At the end you can definitely see this happening in real life... which is kinda scary.
I enjoyed it start to finish and hope any potential sequel isn't too far off because I'll be buying the second book in the series for sure.

It was a great book. I enjoyed the straight forward story telling from two engaging characters. It added to the canon without going so far as to muddy the waters. Oh and I know where the downed star destroyer comes from now *wink*

Story
As the Empire reels from its critical defeats at the Battle of Endor, the Rebel Alliance—now a fledgling New Republic—presses its advantage by hunting down the enemy’s scattered forces before they can regroup and retaliate. But above the remote planet Akiva, an ominous show of the enemy’s strength is unfolding. Out on a lone reconnaissance mission, pilot Wedge Antilles watches Imperial Star Destroyers gather like birds of prey circling for a kill, but he’s taken captive before he can report back to the New Republic leaders.

Not the authors fault, really.

What would have made Aftermath: Star Wars better?
Unfortunately the fact that this book was released before the movie really handcuffed the author. He couldn't delve in to the story post Ep6 at all. A few minor characters that might be bigger later on, and almost no new story worth telling. I know this is a trilogy of novels, and with the other books coming out after Ep7 I am sure they will be far better. The story group for Star Wars should have released it's first post Ep6 book after Ep7 as a prologue of sorts with more teeth in the story. It's not a bad book, it just doesn't go anywhere worth going, yet.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I am going to listen to Lost Stars next, reviews are positive.
Which scene was your favorite?
Hard to say. Lots happened, but nothing happened, if that makes sense.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Aftermath: Star Wars?
I would have retooled the story entirely. Use the first book to introduce the First Order, but release it after the movie came out.
Any additional comments?
Well written and well narrated. Unfortunately the author was muzzled due to keeping the movie under wraps. I will buy the next one in the series for sure.

From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Story
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

The book is incredible and RC Bray kills the narration. Definitely a must read. The science whether it's made up or completely real doesn't matter because it was so well written I just took all the science and math as 100% factual. The research into this book must have been intense. Read it now, or rather, listen to it now.
