Fantastic as always.

Finnemore is one of the most consistently entertaining performers in comedy. He deftly mixes pop culture with esoteric topics and is equally at home with satire and self-deprecation. His troupe all have wide ranges as well, making each sketch equally enjoyable with no drop in quality depending on the performer, as happens frequently in ensemble sketch comedy. I hope Finnemore continues making these albums for many years to come!

Story
The Pin are a multiaward-winning comedy duo with a unique brand of self-reflexive comedy. Performed in front of a live studio audience, their sketches exist somewhere between razor-sharp smartness and joyous silliness. Expect sketches, commentary on the sketches, subtext, rewinds and replays until the line between the performance and critique blurs to hilarious effect.

Mini-sketches, wordplay, and meta-comedy highlight this new (to me, at least) act from the UK. Strong comedy throughout.

Story
In Why We Love Serial Killers, criminology professor Dr. Scott Bonn explores our powerful appetite for the macabre, while also providing new and unique insights into the world of the serial killer, including those he has gained from his correspondence with two of the world’s most notorious examples, David Berkowitz ("Son of Sam") and Dennis Rader ("Bind, Torture, Kill").

Intriguing and unflinching
Reviewed: 05-30-16
What made the experience of listening to Why We Love Serial Killers the most enjoyable?
Bonn tries to explain our fascination with the crimes of serial killers without the handwringing moral gymnastics we try to do getting in the way. Bonn pinpoints what's interesting and compelling about serial killers, and what that says about society, rather than trying to explain away everything with a "slow down for the car wreck" excuse that absolves us of any complicity in the fame of the killer.
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
Bonn's style is forthright and conversational, and his insights are all the more intriguing since he doesn't try to dazzle with verbiage and overwrought psychoanalysis.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! It's not a book that you can parcel out or just listen to favorite parts. It's all fascinating.
Any additional comments?
Bonn's writings for Psychology Today led me to this book and I've since used it in a class I teach on serial killers. I'm glad to say that students don't often try to sell this book back to the bookstore after the course is over.

Story
Nicholas Lyndhurst and Vicki Pepperdine lead the cast of the BBC Radio 4 sci-fi sitcom set on a shiny new planet, as it returns for a second series. With the leader of the interplanetary colony expedition dead, his Number 2 - Brian - is now in charge. He's a nice enough chap, but his desire to sort things out with a nice friendly meeting infuriates the colony's Chief Physician Lillian, who'd rather everyone was walking round in tight colour-coded tunics saluting each other.

Great compilation!
Reviewed: 07-27-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, if the person is interested in basic facts about many different weird crimes. These are not in-depth, nor does the writer always give all salient facts; overall, though, it's a great compilation of bizarre crimes.
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
The sheer amount of research done and obvious interest in the subject that the author has.
Any additional comments?
Some stories have apocryphal or urban legend-type "facts" added, which are not always true. For instance, the electric chair that killed Albert Fish did not malfunction. Also, Fish's victim Grace Budd was 10, not 12 years old. While not a great difference, there is in the public's perception of the victim and goes a bit to the horror the public felt at the time.
