Ms. Hutchinson’s live testimony before the January 6th Committee was riveting, but listening to her voice, tell her story is an experience well worth having.

I’m curious what reading the book will be like. Just now, though, all I want is to remember your voice, flawlessly playing every part.

Listening to this amazing comedian is a wonderful, enjoyable, educational and liberating experience. Yes, Kay Timph is a gifted comedian. In the process of performing as a comedian, she also teaches liberating lessons about humor, honesty, trauma and grief in confronting challenges in one’s own life as well as in the lives of loved ones and others. Can’t recommend listening to her book highly enough.

At first I didn’t know what to make of Ms Moennig’s narration, but the more I listened to her portrayal of Ballard the more I liked it. By the end I was hoping for another Renee Ballard book narrated by Ms Moennig. “Her” Ballard fit my sense of what Connolly’s Ballard is, namely a strong, very smart, focused, independent, resilient woman who is a great detective, despite working in a hostile institution environment. I’m hoping for more Renee Ballard books my Michael Connelly narrated by Katherine Moennig.

Looking at the federal government in a different way

The Fifth Risk invites the reader to think about the federal government in an - for me - entirely new way, namely as a manager of an almost unimaginable number of risks; everything from nuclear energy to the number of chickens in a kill line to vital aid to rural America to nutrition in school lunches and on and on and on. One comes away feeling profound respect for the many super-talented people, career government officials who help manage the seemingly endless risks the country faces every day. The author, Michael Lewis, is a gifted writer and storyteller. Should be required reading in every high school, college and university and for everyone who wants to be an informed citizen. It is a fascinating book.
