Worth the listen. I was disappointed with some of my usual authors, glad I gave this a try.

Southern mystery with international intrigue

Compilation of legal, mystery, and relationships for a novel whose characters are ones you’ll wish you personally knew (except for the bad guys, of course) and an ending that leaves the reader satisfied knowing all is well.

Story
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

I appreciate the warnings Metaxas shares with us through revelations of history so we are not doomed to repeat those mistakes and so we are admonished to repeat the successes of courage to stand for truth.

Story
In The Return of the Gods, Cahn takes the listener on a journey from an ancient parable, the ancient inscriptions in Sumer, Assyria, and Babylonia that become the puzzle pieces behind what is taking place in our world to this day, specifically in America. The mystery involves the gods. Who are they? What are they? And is it possible that these beings, whose origins are from ancient times, are the unseen catalysts of modern culture?

When I finished listening I felt like I had been to a great movie that made me laugh and cry. Misunderstandings turn into hilarious events which bring people together for awesome results. The author’s writing style was great for easy flow of situations involving the two main characters. I look forward to reading more from this author.
