Too much sex
Reviewed: 03-11-23
I liked the story. also lots of detail. but way too much sex. I missed why the Darcy house housekeeper didn't like Elisabeth. I will not get the third book because of the sex.

Story
The Immovable Mr. Tanner is the fourth novel in Jennifer Joy’s A Meryton Mystery romance series set in England's captivating Regency era - when a gentleman's manners were regarded as highly as a lady's reputation and a happy marriage was the ultimate prize (although a fortune was never frowned upon). If you like falling in love with Mr. Darcy and Miss Elizabeth as they fall for each other, then you'll love this sweet romance-mystery variation of Jane Austen's timeless classic, Pride and Prejudice.

I liked the Mystery Series

I also enjoyed not listening to Mrs Bennet or hearing about Caroline. . How about a story about the regular characters several years into their married lives and their families.Enjoyed Mr. Tanner and Darcy's relationship. Also Mr. Benet did so much better without the wife

Story
It is a cold January morning, and Shetland lies beneath a deep layer of snow. Trudging home, Fran Hunter's eye is drawn to a splash of color on the frozen ground, ravens circling above. It is the strangled body of her teenage neighbor, Catherine Ross. The locals on the quiet island stubbornly focus their gaze on one man - loner and simpleton Magnus Tait.

Would you try another book from Ann Cleeves and/or Gordon Griffin?
I like the story. I love the TV show. But I can't listen to the narrator. He's awful

His voice was distracting and putting me to sleep
What character would you cut from Raven Black?
None, just get rid of the narrator

Story
Two days before Christmas 1996, the broken, battered body of Sophie Toscan du Plantier was found outside her vacation home in West Cork, a serene region on Ireland’s idyllic southern coast. Decades later, no one has been charged with the murder, but the aggrieved inhabitants of West Cork are convinced they know who did it - and he still lives among them.

The most distracting "book" I ever listened to
Reviewed: 02-23-18
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
The most distracting "book" I ever listened to. Especially, at the end of each chapter, we heard a listing for the readers name, producers, aso. Think of this production as "listening" to a TV program. I have listening to books with multiple readers, it can be produced well, this wasn't it.
Would you ever listen to anything by Sam Bungey and Jennifer Forde again?
I don't know.
How could the performance have been better?
Less noise. at times the background noise overshadowed the readers voice

Story
The Queen of England has concocted a plan in which penniless aristocrat Lady Georgie is to entertain a Bavarian princess and conveniently place her in the playboy prince's path, in the hopes that he might finally marry.
But queens never take money into account. Georgie has very little, which is why she moonlights as a maid-in-disguise.

I like this Series ..... a lot.
Reviewed: 07-09-12
Where does A Royal Pain rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?
I'm a huge fan of Sue Grafton's 'Kinsey Millhone' series. Was looking for a new female detective and came across Rhys Bowen's character. The ending surprised me and I don't surprise easily. Katherine Kellgren does an excellent job with the reading.
What did you like best about this story?
A smart woman in a time period when women were not permitted to be self-sufficient. This is only my second book.
What does Katherine Kellgren bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
Her voices sound different without being annoying. Some readers try too hard and then the story loses its flow.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
A Royal Pain sounds about right. That 'Princess' was a pain
