I'm sure the story is fine, but the narrator is so hard to listen to.
You can hear the punctuation in every sentence. It is super jarring. I couldn't make it through the first chapter. Even after increasing the speed to 2.0x speed.
The spaces are to prove a point.

Only thing I can think of is that I’m either not paying enough attention or there are some skips that don’t translate well to audiobooks.

best series I've listened to!
Reviewed: 11-20-19
This is hands down the best series I've listened to! I feel as though I've cheated the author by only using a single credit to buy this. I will definitely be keeping my eyes more work by the author and narrator!
if you love shows like Firefly, Star trek, or any other sci-fi, I couldn't recommend this series anymore!

no conflict except at the verrrrry end

The story had no conflict until the last chapter. there was always as looming threat, but it never did anything to push the story along... main character just get stronger and stronger and then barely makes it at the very end.

good story but I wish they were a little more..
Reviewed: 02-26-19
it's a good story but I wish they were a little more rigid with their definitions. I'm a little spoiled because I listen to all of The Land, and everything there had specific numbers behind it. other than that I love the idea of making a pact sent to this other world and the purely experience-based character sheet

I wanted to give it a shot
Reviewed: 02-14-19
I wanted to get this book of shots, after reading some of the other reviews. I tend to agree that this sounds a bit rushed. Nick Podehl does a great job, as ever. but the story leaves a lot to be desired. I can handle some leaps of Faith, but this one has a few too many. the biggest of which is someone from an entirely magical fantasy world being able to understand menus and stat points and all these other things that we take for granted in RPGs... and then knowing them better than most players do.

Opposites attack! When the Magelord Minalan the Spellmonger’s two apprentices, Tyndal and Rondal, were knighted after the battle of Timberwatch, they were dubbed Knights Magi: A new class of nobility for distinguished High Magi. Designed to combine the pursuit of arcane knowledge with the noble aspirations of chivalry, it elevated them above common warmage...in theory. The problem was they had no idea how to be a Knight Mage...because no one had ever been one before.
