Story
Nearly 26 years after receiving her first heart transplant, Amy Silverstein's donor heart plummeted into failure. If she wanted to live, she had to take on the grueling quest for a new heart - immediately. A shot at survival meant uprooting her life and moving across the country to California. When her friends heard of her plans, there was only one reaction: "I'm there." Nine remarkable women - Joy, Jill, Leja, Jody, Lauren, Robin, Valerie, Ann, and Jane - put demanding jobs and pressing family obligations on hold to fly across the country and be by Amy's side.

Such a beautiful depiction of life & love

As a sister to a brain cancer patient (my sister), I listened and followed along, remembering so many similar stories between me, my other sisters, nieces and family friends who also took their turn caring for our beautiful sister through two brain surgeries and emotionally and psychologically trying physical and occupational therapy, not to mention the recovery and slow process of healing... in this book, Ms Silverstein so aptly doles out the pain, the lessons, the gratitude, the love and life reflections that happen among all involved. So very well done.
