Story
Stephen Sheerin was born to play on Broadway - or at least, under it. He's a musician, a conductor, and his dream is to music-direct a big Broadway musical. After years of toiling in the pit of some of the best-loved (and loathed) hits on the Great White Way, he's just been given his big break. Can life really be going that well? Of course not.

Narrator a John Lovitz want-a-be
Reviewed: 07-19-11
The story was cute and amusing but if Seth wanted John Lovitz to do the narration he should have hired him and not done the cheap imitation. Seth tried too hard using his voice to be funny and it ended up being irritating and grating on the ear after about 30 minutes. Worst of all it diminished the material.

Story
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

At the begining of the year Water for Elephants came to my attention when it received some awards so I added it to my wishlist. That was a mistake! Do yourself a favor, download and listen to this book now. Don't let it sit in your wish list for months like I did.
I have over 200 books in my Audible Library and this book is one of my top five favorites.
Here is a book that is beautifully conceived, wonderfully written and artfully read. This story struck an emotional chord that resonates in my heart, mind and soul.

Story
Fatima, Portugal, 1917: The Virgin Mary appears to three peasant children, sharing with them three secrets, two of which are soon revealed to the world. The third secret is sealed away in the Vatican, read only by popes, and not disclosed until the year 2000. When revealed, its quizzical tone and anticlimactic nature leave many faithful wondering if the church has truly unveiled all of the Virgin Mary's words or if a message far more important has been left in the shadows.

a story to make red state Christians see red
Reviewed: 06-07-05
Marian visions, apocalyptic prophecies, the politics of the Papacy, and tangible proof for the existence of God all add up to a new summer thriller in the genre of Dan Brown. This is a story that will make red state Christians see red. It will give conservative Catholics and the Christian right something new to scream about and condemn. For the rest of us it is a fast paced, fun and thought provoking read.

Story
In his subtle and engaging investigation into the life and times of Jesus, Thomas Cahill shows us Jesus from his birth to his execution through the eyes of those who knew him and in the context of his time—a time when the Jews were struggling to maintain their beliefs under overlords who imposed their worldview on their subjects. Here is Jesus the loving friend, itinerate preacher, and quiet revolutionary, whose words and actions inspired his followers to journey throughout the Roman world and speak the truth he instilled.

Book allowed me to re-Saul-t my Christianity
Reviewed: 06-16-04
This book made me reevaluate my opinions on both Paul (Saul) and John the Evangelist. Untill hearing this book I had alway prefered my Christianity un-Saul-ted.
I enjoyed the listen although the narrator's brogue got a little much at times.
