amazing story well worth the read

I loved it and have read it multiple times, there's some issues with the voice acting like the barron has 3 different voices in the reading and some other people forget their roles but apart from that well worth the read!

Story
As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

Story
“I have sensed a disturbance in the Force.” Ominous words under any circumstances, but all the more so when uttered by Emperor Palpatine. On Batuu, at the edges of the Unknown Regions, a threat to the Empire is taking root - its existence little more than a glimmer, its consequences as yet unknowable. But it is troubling enough to the Imperial leader to warrant investigation by his most powerful agents: ruthless enforcer Lord Darth Vader and brilliant strategist Grand Admiral Thrawn.

At first I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this book. I was not a huge fan of Vader initially but as the story continued I loved him more and more till the icing on the cake when they attack a certain stronghold. even stormtroopers get some love in this book for being the army that can't hit 4 people standing still...
The way this story was written was a past present scenario I thought would get confusing at first, but at the story carried on it didn't pose too much of a problem.
The reader does an amazing job just like he did with the last book as well.

Story
World War Three wiped out the humankind. The planet is empty now. Huge cities became dust and ashes. Railroads are being eaten by rust. Abandoned satellites hang lonely in their orbits. Radio is mute on all frequencies. The only survivors of the last war were those who made it into the gates of the Metro, the subway system of Moscow city. It's there, hundreds of feet below the ground, in the vaults of what was constructed as the world's largest air-raid shelter, where now people try to outlive the end of days.

Story
The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms. A few score thousand survivors live on, not knowing whether they are the only ones left on Earth....

I really enjoyed how the story was written. When I closed my eyes I could see myself sitting in a dark metro surround by a group of men huddled up to machine guns by a fire telling stories, I loved getting immersed in them! and the different factions are pretty diverse, there's a cannibal group that follows a "giant snake" who are my personal favorites in the story and most the stations are interesting in their own way some are better off than others, some are close to the surface so they spend ever minute on full alert, the stations are interesting. However, about halfway through the book once he meets the old man I zoned out and lost interest for a bit, it picks back up but it takes time, and my other complaint is I want to know more about Khan I wish he was with Artyom for more than I believe two stations if memory serves me right,I felt he was more interesting then what was let on. overall I really enjoyed the book but it's got some really slow "crappy" parts (you'll get that reference later).

Story
A magical serial killer is on the loose, and gelatinous, otherworldly creatures are infesting the English countryside. Which is making life for the Ministry of Occultism difficult, because magic is supposed to be their best kept secret. After centuries in the shadows, the Ministry is forced to unmask, exposing the country's magical history - and magical citizens - to a brave new world of social media, government scrutiny, and public relations.

Great twist on the magical world
Reviewed: 06-26-18
Pros:
-Each character was easy to tell apart by the reader
-Good twist on magic making an interesting world
-Interesting characters making me want to learn more about
-Didn't expect the antagonist to be who it was until things started to piece together and it helped make the antagonist a very well developed character
Cons:
-Main characters voice gets kind of annoying in my opinion because everything's said in a questioning tone but it's a minor take away
-I listened to it too early and can't wait for the sequel, it ends on a great cliff hanger and I wish the second book would be out sooner
Overall for the first mystery I've listened to and Yahtzee book I listened to, I loved it, the mystery was interesting and had a good twist and some interesting parts to try and throw out who the real killer actually is, I enjoyed the reading and the political correctness makes for a good lightness and humor in the world even if at times you hated the media during the whole book...
