Story
On the unforgiving planet of Dakkar, I did what all the humans in our village did: kept my head down, worked to provide for my family, and certainly didn’t break any Dakkari laws to risk inciting the alien race’s merciless wrath. Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for my brother, and one careless mistake brings a horde of the nomadic, barbarian Dakkari straight to our doorstep, led by their powerful horde king - a cold, ruthless, battle-scarred warrior demanding retribution.

Story
Reddix is a Touch Kindred with an inverted Touch sense - he can’t touch with his mind like others of his kind. Instead, he is doomed to endure their emotions like a physical invasion every time he’s around anyone. Desperation drives him to kidnap Nina - the girl of whom he has been dreaming. But he doesn’t take her out of love, but as a sacrifice to one who claims she can cure his affliction. Snatching Nina from her job, Reddix takes her on a journey to the stars that ends in disaster. Now, marooned on a strange planet, they will have to learn to work together in order to survive.

How are they supporting three species?
Reviewed: 07-06-23
After listening to 40 of her books in this series I’m just wondering how they are sustaining humans, kindred and the monstrum kindred from one planet earth or are they getting a steady stream of resources from the other planets?? Although it never really says how or if they are getting a supplies from elsewhere, but I would think by now Earth would say something about the extra toll it’s taking from the resources, or is this a moot point and no one really cares? It’s just fiction anyway?

Story
Marlene's not like the other humans. They weep while she smiles. They look at us with fear, while she entices me with a come-hither look. I...have no idea why such a bold female resonated to a male like me. I am the most reticent of all the sa-khui tribe, a hunter that never expected to have a family of my own. But resonance chooses, and it has chosen her for me. And Marlene is quite determined to seduce me...and who can say no to such a woman?

Hearts for the Narrators
Reviewed: 09-15-21
I have listened to almost all the these books in the series, I love the narrators, although in this book they do a French accent for the female character, which was hard to understand Most of the time. Also, the plot was weak almost nonexistent. It almost seemed like the author had forgotten about this particular character while writing the series, the character was mentioned briefly in the other books but never a supporting character, or even an interesting one. By the end where she “rescues” her mate, it was pretty anti-climactic, and how many times do you have explain why she was looking for hearts? The most seen shape in nature, not hard to find at all, in my opinion. The main male character was supposed to be so shy that he couldn’t even talk to her let alone carry her off the moment they resonated, all in all, it just felt lazily slapped together. The Narrators were really the only good thing I can say about it, as always they are my favorite narrators for audiobooks.
