Giggle away your wedding season stress

Laugh away the stress of wedding season with this fun romp. I read the electronic version of this story, but hearing it read by a young woman with great timing and an appropriate voice for the story made it even more fun. I identify with Kat (perhaps because we have the same name) and her klutziness. She's willing to wear an ugly bridesmaid dress to satisfy her best friend's wedding wish, but she balks at bringing a date. The tribulations she overcomes on the way to walking down the aisle tickled me. What could be better than a marriage of romance and humor?
If you're about to be a June bride, or even a guest at a wedding, you'll get a kick out of this story.

Very imaginative fantasy with great voices

This is a fun fairy story with a great message for tweens. The main characters are loyal to their friends and friendship, and are willing to postpone or abandon their own hopes and dreams to help out a friend. How imaginative to have fairies living above a mall in a resort town! The disabled teen fairy One-Wing, with his desire to fly taking over his common sense, seemed incredibly real to me. And the friendship between him and Swoop rings true.

I read the book on my Kindle so I worried that hearing it would bring voices to the characters that I hadn't imagined when I read it. It did! But in a good way. The narrator "nailed" the personalities of the different characters well. She was particularly good at the voices of the young people/fairies.
All in all, a fun "listen" that I enjoyed as an adult and believe my great-niece will like, too.

Funny Romantic Christmas Tale

Would you consider the audio edition of A Crispy Rice Christmas to be better than the print version?

Hearing the character's frustration and anxious attempts to make things work out was a lot of fun.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Crispy Rice Christmas?

The tale of the souffle Beth's mother made was a hoot! As were many of Beth's and her mother's cooking exploits.

What does Karie Silko bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hearing her voice helped me picture a young, attractive woman. She used the often-repeated phrases, "in my defense," and "in Sam's defense," to great effect! She does a good job of building suspense.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Toward the end, I laughed out loud. Otherwise, I smiled a LOT. And I really wanted to know what was going to happen, with all the "in my defense" build-up!
