Story
It's been 10 years since Handry was wrenched away from his family and friends, forced to wander a world he no longer understood. But with the help of the Ancients, he has cobbled together a life, of sorts, for himself and his fellow outcasts. Wandering from village to village, welcoming the folk that the townships abandon, fighting the monsters the villagers cannot - or dare not - his ever-growing band of misfits has become the stuff of legend, a story told by parents to keep unruly children in line.

The narrator ruined one of my favorite books
Reviewed: 01-07-24
I read these books years ago and loved them then, so when I came upon the audio version I was eager to listen. Unfortunately, the narrator’s delivery was disappointing. He holds out the words in a stop/start kind of way reminiscent of Captain Kirk. The lilt was so distracting that I lost track of the storyline and had to back track every few minutes. What’s interesting is that his voice sounded normal when reading dialog. I wish he had spoken like that throughout.

Story
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Ugghhh! it’s a ZOMBIE book
Reviewed: 05-27-23
The writing is good. It’s easy to identify with the characters. I personally don’t think that zombie books should be considered Sci Fi. They’re more like horror in my opinion and I don’t find them entertaining.

Not bad if you are 12 and dream of being a soldier in space

I found the story to be quite juvenile. My mind would wander and I kept needing to back up to catch the plot. I made it to chapter 15 before I put it down. Perhaps it gets more captivating later on

They are coming. The countdown has begun. First visible only as blips on a telescope image, the discovery of objects approaching from Jupiter's orbit immediately sets humanity on edge. NASA doesn't even bother to deny the alien ships' existence. The popular Astral space app (broadcasting from the far side of the moon and accessible by anyone with Internet) has already shown the populace what is coming.

I found this book by looking for books narrated by Ray Porter. I’m not sure if it’s the way he reads or the stories he chooses but I have enjoyed every audio book that I’ve found with Ray Porter reading.
