Loved the story but...

This narrator is horrible. I've read the book before, so I knew I wanted to add it to my audible library. However, I didn't expect the narration to be so bad. Maybe a part of the reason is because I read the book before listening to it but this lady wasn't a good match for my vision of what these characters look and sound like in my mind. I hate that I had to say all of that but the book was otherwise good, the narrator just wasn't for me.

Story
The boy who always felt like mine is now the man I can’t have.... Dig a little and you’ll find photos of me in the bathtub with Ezra Stern. Get your mind out of the gutter. We were six months old. Pry and one of us might confess we saved our first kiss for each other. The most clumsy, wet, sloppy...spectacular 30 seconds of my adolescence. Get into our business and you’ll see two families, closer than blood, torn apart in an instant. Twenty years later, my “awkward duckling” best friend from childhood, the boy no one noticed, is a man no one can ignore.

Good read

I've read a couple other books by this author so I should have expected all the extra detail. Some of it I felt was unnecessary but it didn't take away from the book overall. I loved the relationship between Ezra and Kimba. As adults, I felt at times Mona was doing and saying too much, she seemed overly invested in Ezra's relationships. I'm sure she was just trying to be a good friend but she really got on my nerves. Aiko was a bit much as well. And while I can understand her position with the scene she walked in on, I feel like she was out of line as well. I liked the narrator's although I could tell they were pronouncing some of the Jewish terms wrong. The Taco Tuesday pregnancy was kind of predictable and the ending felt a bit rushed after all the detail presented throughout the book but oh well. Anyway, I would recommend this book, it was very good and had me anxious for most of the story. Good job Kennedy Ryan.

I really wanted to give five stars for every category but I have to say I was disappointed right from the start when I noticed Leon Nixon was doing the male narration. I am not a fan of his voice or reading. He wasn't horrible but to me, his voice is more suitable for relaxation or bedtime stories not the passionate, suspense filled stories some authors cast him for. He was actually somewhat boring. I really wish Jakobi Diem(hopefully I spelled that right) would have been narrating along with Wesleigh Siobhan. With that being said, I absolutely loved this book, so much so that I had already read it on Kindle and purchased the audible version as soon as I was notified of its release. Kuddos Stephanie Nicole Norris, you've done it again!

Tariq & Kora are my favorite characters.. I can most definitely relate .. 20 years of friendship turn lovers... Kora most definitely got on my nerves for a long time because she keep telling him to go after another woman and when she realized she was in love with him she couldn’t handle it .. but in the end they both realized the were in-loved with each other and didn’t have choice but to be together

Story
When Kennedy James unexpectedly shows up at her grandma's house in Tyler, Texas, no one knows what to make of her arrival - including her. The only thing Kennedy does know is that something in her life has to change, and it needs to happen right now. She's been numb for much too long. Then she meets Travis Broussard, the perceptively cool guitarist of the indie soul band The Prototype. The timing couldn't be worse, but their attraction is instant, magnetic, and at times overwhelming, causing Kennedy to question if it's possible to feel too much.

I had been obsessing over whether or not to get the Prototype Series and I finally did. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how easily these stories pulled me in. Kennedy and Travis are my absolute favorite followed by Jersey and Zay. I haven't had the series a full week and I've already listened to this one several times. Travis is everything!!! I think I have another author to add to my favorites list. Now if I can just get the follow up novellas in audio form I'll be in heaven.

This book pulled me in from the start. Absolutely can't wait for book 2!This was one of the best books I've listened to all year! There's love, lust, trust issues, violence, excitement...all the ingredients for a great story! Hopefully this isn't a spoiler, but I knew that Daliah chick was trouble from jump, just didn't know how. Will listen to it again, this time with the hubby, I think he would like it too. This should be a movie. I am a fan of this author from this book alone. Read another review that said they wanted a refund, that person is out of their mind. Clearly, this wasn't the kind of story they could handle. But to each its own.

I had been hesitant to listen to this book after listening to Stay for Me while back. Although the storyline was good, the narrator was so dry and boring it made this a difficult book to get into. It didn't really pull me in until about chapter 16, mostly because of the narrator but the story itself was more drawn out than it needed to be or maybe it just seemed that way because of the narrator. Sometimes I couldn't tell who was speaking in the book because the narrator didn't create any difference in each characters voice at all. I think I would have liked it better if I'd read the book in print rather than listening to this audio version.

The storyline was good although it felt a bit rushed, especially in the first few chapters. It did seem to get more on pace further into the story. I was surprised by what Imani's secret turned out to be. Her relationship with Xavier appeared to be weaker than first presented. I felt like the author made him a little more dramatic than necessary when he found out her secret and not dramatic enough when he found out the details behind her secret. The ending was sweet. Overall, this was a pretty good read, there were moments when I found myself actually yelling at the characters as if they could hear me, lol. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good, sweet love story.

This books has me all in my feelings. Really didn't like Tracy's character, she was selfish and self-centered. I really was rooting for Alicia and Dwight. Tracy really was the definition of not knowing how good you have it til you lose it. Dwight needed to have more of a backbone and I wish he had been more aware of Tracy's schemes. The way they did Alicia in the end had me in tears, how could they think the way they were going about things was okay. Alicia should have never agreed to that arrangement in the first place but no one deserves what they did to her.I cried right along with her.
I had to wait a day after finishing this book to write this review because I was so distraught after this book ended. The writing and narrating of this book is great, provoked feelings from me even though I know its fiction.
