Another great military sci-fi work from Haskell! Honestly, I think this one seemed at a new and surprisingly even better level from the preceding three books. This series continues to get better with every book.

The process outlined made sense, was approachable, and was smartly outlined. Good book. I would enjoy being a participant if my facilitator used this approach.

Great listen!

The book itself is delightful. Characters are developed in a way that makes them personable. The science fiction is approachable and understandable. I really enjoyed this book and will be reading/listening to the rest of the series.

Story
What are the secrets to a contented life? One of Rome's greatest and most influential poets, Horace (65-8 BCE) has been cherished for more than 2,000 years not only for his wit, style, and reflections on Roman society, but also for his wisdom about how to live a good life - above all else, a life of contentment in a world of materialistic excess and personal pressures. In How to Be Content, Stephen Harrison provides fresh, contemporary translations of poems from across Horace's works that continue to offer important lessons about the good life, friendship, love, and death.

Good material, bad audiobook
Reviewed: 09-14-22
Material seemed good. The audiobook was lacking. I felt like the narrator was just reading words on a page here without trying to understand what they meant together. I’ll buy print copy.

Story
“Almost all of the philosophical truths that I have come to know and understand I have learned from Aristotle,” says Mortimer J. Adler. This easy-to-listen-to exposition of Aristotle’s thoughts about nature, human actions, and the conduct of life confirms convictions that most of us hold, though we may not be fully aware of them. This is because Aristotle’s philosophical insights are grounded in the common experience we all possess and because they illuminate the common sense we all rely on.

Dreadful narration that obscures arguments of the work
Reviewed: 04-17-22
This is an excellent book. But the audio book narrator is awful. It seemed to me, that he may not have understood the content and thus tried to use his voice to add punch to every sentence. It obscures the text and the flow very badly. I’ve literally spent years studying the author and written three hundred pages of biography about him. I know what I’m talking about. The book is good. The audio performance of this book is a disservice to the arguments of the book. I have to stop after one mind-numbing hour.
