All while securing peace and trade agreements with the two largest countries on the continent. Herald Frost wasn’t merely a deviant herald that laid with demihumans. interesting story, but lackluster characters
Reviewed: 06-01-21
the story is interesting enough. would like to know what happens next. I just hope the next book has less Rena and eternally cranky housewife Brinn. less time devoted to arguing over who gets to sleep with Frost. less time devoted to sex scenes.
I swear, every time Rena appears, she ruins the mood or event that is going on. the old hag insults got old 2 books ago. and for the love of everything, not every sex scene has to be 40+ minutes long.

not even half as good as it's predecessors

I struggled to finish this one due to how badly written the characters are now. Ver is snobby and egotistical this time around that it becomes annoying to the point that you want to skip every conversation with him. Toffle, once an awesome character, is now defined by her inferiority complex, where you start to think that she is pathetic. I swear the narrator makes every conversation between the characters sound like 5 year olds arguing, with reason. The parts that are supposed to be funny are so far from it. How ver wins bets is particularly upsetting.
I fail to understand how quality can fall so hard.

enjoyable book

every review here mentions chapter 16. The narrators do a stellar job here, the issue is that production forgot to edit this particular chapter. As for the story, its fine, but one glaring issue remains. He keeps building his harem and getting people left and right to betray their bosses purely because of his giant package. This, however, does not make it not worth it. Todd once again is the shining light.
A quote "I'm gonna need years of therapy now. And I don't think I'll ever look an elephant in the eye again without feeling dirty". The narrator delivers this line perfectly as a response to Todd seeing something he didnt want to see.

Story
"Dude! It finally came!" My roommate barely withheld his excitement as he barreled into the living room of our apartment with a package in his hand. "Check it out, Jacob." He smiled as he tore at the brown paper surrounding his purchase. As he ripped the covering off the package, bits and pieces scattered all across the floor of the living room like confetti. For a second, I thought about lecturing Todd about not making a mess of our apartment, but who was I kidding? This place was already a shithole. At least some half-assed confetti would make it feel a little livelier.

Nice adventure, just turn your brain off. I mean, not joking, the guy builds his harem in this book purely by having a big package. Millennia old Succubi betray everything, because of his junk...
On the great side though, the supporting character, Todd, is easily Eric Vall's best character ever. Brilliantly funny. The narrators, who do a brilliant job, lose it in one particularly ridiculous Todd scene and I fully appreciate that they didn't edit that out.

I guess not much to say. If you are this far into the series and enjoy it, you will like it. I enjoyed it very much. Only thing that really irked me was a particular scene where the author got a little preachy with real world environmental issues, which noticeably felt like it was jammed in there. Narrator is once again brilliant.

What they discover there may very well change the balance of power in their favor against the Thule Empire. But their discovery will count for nothing if they cannot reach Lamuria in time to try and stop the massive invasion force sent by Lord Zelroth.

fantastic story with amazing performance

if you liked the firt 2, you will definitely like this one. only real fault i can mention is one that stands out to me personally. this is the sheer amount of scenes that are repeated through different points of view. there are quite a few of these and one scene in particular is repeated from start to finish in three POVs. some might argue against this being a problem since they are all good in their own right, but i just felt that they always served to abruptly halt the pacing of the story.
other than that, this was a fantastic story with siome of the best narration ive ever heard. cant wait for the next entry.

Reviewed: 05-13-17
Petkoff, as always, had a 5 star performance. however the story was not evem remotely deserving of it. been following this series for years and its gotten to the point where Cole just leaves loose end wide open while adding more and more to the lore. the whole moryor storyline is trash that makes a mess of the overall plot.
and by the way, get ready for yet another stockholme syndrome book where the guy treats the girl like garbage and the girl hates him for it, but the guy us just so sexy she cant help but take off her panties for him.

Would you listen to Pleasure of a Dark Prince: Immortals After Dark, Book 9 again? Why?
Definitely would listen again. This book is a good adventure with just the right mix of intrigue, sex, and humor.
What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?
There's the typical american accent, scottish, texan, portuguese, russian, new orleans, and growly monster accent. Robert Petkoff manages to perfectly simulate these accents and adapt them to characters to give them their unique voice. He performs dialogues making action scenes sound like a struggle, humor scenes sound whitty, and as for the sexy scenes... well, the dude growls and moans freely. Have yet to find a better narrator.

Any additional comments?
in terms of plot, this book lacks strongly. basically, what you learn early on about the general plot from the summary is what you should expect. There is 1 mystery that i had a fun time trying to guess, yet I was underwhelmed when the mystery was resolved. What made me dislike the book was the dominant/submissive personalities.
Basically the main female lead is a dominant type, meaning she wont give in to anyone, and since shes an alpha as well, not even her own alpha can command her to do anything. this all carries into sex, where the female lead is fighting and cursing her alpha while lusting and wanting sex. its a retarded thing because after all that fighting and cursing(quite colorful cursing I might add), she is content and sexually sated. its it gives off the impression that this book is aimed at women with rape fetishes. it makes no sense at all when your listening and it ultimately makes half the book less interesting. skip this one as its crap...

Is there anything you would change about this book?
I would remove the prophecy from this book. nothing ruins a good book quite like a prophecy to spoil the ending for you. especially when the prophecy is given in some random retarded way. after the prophecy is told, you immediately think "that wasnt couldve been left out easily".
I would also change make events clearer. the book seemed rushed in too many places, especially the end.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
it was rushed, plain and simple. And of course, this cant be a true trilogy without a surprise 4th book. at this point I already know what the 4th book is going to be about thanks to the random spoiler in the middle of the book, so I wouldnt bother getting the 4th.
Have you listened to any of Kevin Gray and Aiko Nakasone ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
they did a great job narrating. just as good as the other books in the series.
