Another amazing set of stories from a very talented author. I love the links that this book provides with Brandon Sanderson‘s multiple storylines. His character growth for Kelsier is vital for the long-term Mist born story. A must read.

I liked the content. The story took a little to get into and did not have the nail biting excitement of the Mistborn series. It did possess the amazing character development and building plot. The end was Sanderson excellence. I am looking forward to the sequel!

Story
With The Alloy of Law, Brandon Sanderson surprised listeners with a New York Times best-selling spinoff of his Mistborn audiobooks, set after the action of the trilogy, in a period corresponding to late 19th-century America. The trilogy's heroes are now figures of myth and legend, even objects of religious veneration. They are succeeded by wonderful new characters, chief among them Waxillium Ladrian, known as Wax, hereditary lord of House Ladrian.

With commanding skill, Thomas R. Martin tells the remarkable and dramatic story of how a tiny, poor, and threatened settlement grew to become, during its height, the dominant power in the Mediterranean world for 500 years. Encompassing the period from Rome's founding in the eighth century BC through Justinian's rule in the sixth century AD, he offers a distinctive perspective on the Romans and their civilization by employing fundamental Roman values as a lens through which to view both their rise and spectacular fall.

This is a good book that goes into fairly good detail with cited references on multiple aspects of the Roman empire. It made good use of description of religion, day-to-day life, and the changes in government from a time period ranging from the establishment of the Rome monarchy to the collapse of the Western Roman empire and the continuation of the eastern Roman empire under Justinian.
