Story
On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

Be prepared that this is from one of her meetings and so some of the time she is talking about peoples movement in the audience or she is shaking her head and a lot of the time you don’t know what is really happening. If this could have been a video it would have been way more enjoyable and a lot more meaningful. I have listened to other audiobooks by this author and I think she is a fabulous speaker but not when she’s live with other people.

Story
When Anna wakes up from a coma after a car crash, she discovers life has gone on without her. Her husband has been unfaithful - with her best friend - and she’s been long since replaced at work. While her old life is a distant memory, her new life feels like an empty shell. Then she meets the stranger who saved her life during the crash, and he changes everything. Leif Larsen - tattooist, joker, and player - has his own scars thanks to the crash that put Anna in a coma. Helping her move on from her failed marriage, and create a new life, sounds like a perfect distraction.

A very uncomplicated romance novel with the predictable sex scene. Of course the hunky perfect guy steps in after the poor betrayed woman leaves her cheating man. Really not much substance, but a good narrator.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

A very enjoyable book. Great narrator and a very complex and satisfying story. I learned a lot about physics and science and space while I was enjoying the relationships between the main character and an alien. It is a terrific listen and probably a great read as well.

Story
Not too long from today, a new, highly contagious virus makes its way across the globe. Most who get sick experience nothing worse than flu, fever, and headaches. But for the unlucky one percent - and nearly five million souls in the United States alone - the disease causes "Lock In": Victims fully awake and aware, but unable to move or respond to stimulus. The disease affects young, old, rich, poor, people of every color and creed. The world changes to meet the challenge.

A very interesting story and I enjoyed the extra novella at the end explaining the origin of the disease. It’s good to have it at the end. I felt invested in the story and was much more interested in all the details after I had finished the main story. I’m going for the second in the series now because I found it so realistic- how science and politics are mixed together. I also enjoyed all the different personalities who were very easy to visualize and get to know.

Story
Shelby works as a dog walker in northern California, and she’s just finished up her bi-weekly trip to the park with a husky named Pluto. When she brings him back to his house, she finds his owner - Todd Burke, a well-known local businessman and founder of an organic supplements company - lying on the bathroom floor, dead. A detective arrives on the scene. As she interviews Shelby, the body is inspected by a medical examiner, and more cops search Todd’s home, it becomes clear that the victim’s life was less picture-perfect than his clean-cut persona might lead you to believe.

Beautifully written and a great story, but Poor narration
Reviewed: 04-18-21
The story is complex for each of the main characters. The second layer of repeat characters were also described in detail. The fall of Haiti to murderous thugs is so upsetting as the background to the story.Graham Greene’s writing is stellar. I recommend the book to read or with a different narrator. This narration is a bit flat- although I still enjoyed the story. I will try one of his other books and see if there is a better narrator.

Great narrator, story is very far-fetched and didn’t hold together
Reviewed: 04-09-21
Scott Brick is a terrific narrator but even he couldn’t save the predictable and disappointing ending. The story started off as an excellent mystery- good character development, but then a forced romance and an ending that was unrealistic for the characters. Don’t want to spoil. Ending is just bad. Did not tie the story together. All the bad people get punished ,all the good people live happily ever after. Very disappointing.

Over twenty years ago, the heiress Patricia Lockwood was abducted during a robbery of her family's estate, then locked inside an isolated cabin for months. Patricia escaped, but so did her captors - and the items stolen from her family were never recovered. Until now. On the Upper West Side, a recluse is found murdered in his penthouse apartment, alongside two objects of note: a stolen Vermeer painting and a leather suitcase bearing the initials WHL3. For the first time in years, the authorities have a lead - with the suitcase and painting both pointing them toward one man.
